Re: Restoring faith

That was lovely to hear. As I've said on here before, I absolutely love Sydenham and a big part of that is that the vast majority of people in this community are really very nice. Whilst standing at the bus stop on Sydenham Rd last week at about 11.30pm, a woman and her young child came up to me, ha...

Re: NABORHOOD CENTRE

Passed it just now and I must say I thought it looked absolutely fantastic - light, bright, clean... I even liked the mosaic, which I'd not been sure about. All told I think it's a vast improvement and a credit to the high street. Presumably now it has been rebranded "The Sydenham Centre",...

Re: Help! Plumber recommendation for leaky boiler?

Thanks, DC - ProGas just left and although I had the fear on me, the problem doesn't seem to be too horrendous. However, this is the sort of thing where a recommendation is always good to have, so if you get chance to PM that guy's number, that wold be great to keep in any case, thank you.

Help! Plumber recommendation for leaky boiler?

Hi, As is evident from the topic title, my boiler has been leaking (leaking water, not gas) and needs sorting today. As one who knows nothing about such things I would greatly value a personal recommendation for a trustworthy organisation or a person to call. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated, ...

Re: SYDENHAM ROAD AND SIGNS

Are you young Er... young-ish, I suppose, though at 39, not as young as I would like to be! Aaah... right, ok I see. Sorry, I'd foolishly not thought about mothers with children. And although I know age is a factor I hadn't realised how much. It was a genuine question so thank you for an honest ans...

Re: SYDENHAM ROAD AND SIGNS

Twopenneth: I love the idea of bespoke signs bookending Sydenham Road and/or beyond - can't wait to see your dragon design, Lee and would happily lend tangible support for this if there were a way? Second, I have to ask - and I truly don't mean to sound facetious - but why on earth are public toilet...

Damp!

I need some damp work doing and would be grateful if anyone could recommend trusted local tradesmen who are known to do a good job and not charge over the odds. Answers on a postcard, please?!

Thanks in advance

Re: Cycling on Sydenham's pavements

I whole-heartedly agree that this is a big problem in Sydenham, not least of all because of the velocity that cyclists pick up when going down the hill. A month or so ago I was walking past Wesley Hall with two heavy bags full of glass jars and bottles and thus unable to get out of the way quickly, ...

Re: Rebranding Lower Sydenham

Controversially, what if (so to speak!) Home Park was renamed Sydenham Green, ditto Lower Sydenham station? I don't know the provenance of the name "Home Park" but it seems a bit random. I do love the rather fancy Library Quarter tag; it sounds as though it's been lifted wholesale from Int...

Re: Can anyone recommend a good Doctor surgery?

I too can heartily recommend Sydenham Green. I have a slight dread of doctor's surgeries, but the staff there are brilliant: polite, friendly and patient, and the GP I saw there was also great.

Welcome to Sydenham!

Re: Larksbere Road

Hello, Just to say in response to your post, I have lived on Larkbere Road for just over two years now and I absolutely love it. As the previous poster mentioned it's just over 10 mins to the station. Having previously lived in a less nice part of South London, where I experienced a lot of violent c...
