Re: Ignition tap room - Pub quiz - Next Thursday (Nov 4th!)

Ps: If you live on Tannsfeld Road and bring proof you’ll get 20% off your first round at Ignition next week (4th - 6th Nov). They are doing a street of the week thing so keep your eyes peeled on Twitter, when walking past etc. for if/when you get lucky (!)

Thought rather than write another message I’d amend the previous “original” message so this is just a bump of that.

Ignition tap room - Pub quiz - This Thursday (Dec 2nd!)

Hey all,

Just a little shout out for the quiz at Ignition on Thursday at 7. It will be a mix of Christmas based questions, pics, anagrams and a wall a la only connect if anyone watches it. Anyways I’m organising it so thought I’d pop it in here for a few more eyes.

Cheers,

Have a lovely week,

J

Re: Replacement for Penge Lidl

Rumour had it (Penge tourist board) that the owners of PFC were planning to move in there so whether it is true and they are moving out to the bigger unit, keeping the old one and having something different here or the rumours aren’t true and it’s completely separate who knows!

Re: Any news on the proposed Harris Secondary school?

This implies they have yet to find/sign off on a location though the plan for a “Sydenham” Harris is a still a go: https://www.harrisfederation.org.uk/176/future-academies/project/48/harris-academy-sydenham As it’s Bromley council who have agreed I assume that means it’ll be located in Bromley but b...

Re: Dangerous e-scooters in Sydenham

Yep, have seen people whizzing around without too much safety concerns unfortunately. Additionally though it’s not just the people on scooters, I’ve seen a big increase in people on bikes cycling on pavements or on roads unsafely as well as people crossing roads at the most idiotic places and times ...

Re: Refurbishment of Billings in September

Thought I’d take the opportunity to ask as I was in this morning - there won’t be anyone there and it’s a pretty major refurb mostly of the back of the shop (new kitchen, toilets etc) so extremely doubtful any service will be available during that time. Fingers crossed the refurb goes to plan and it...

Re: Good Food is coming to Sydenham

Hey Parker1970 (and any others!) although maybe generally lacking in London - perhaps more so due to lack of advertising? than actual places - there are actually a few not too* far from Sydenham - although be aware produce and prices do vary! Here is a list: Beetroot and Beans - Forest Hill Roots an...

Re: New Italian takeaway on Dartmouth Road

Looks great/authentic etc. But can’t for the life of me see a menu/how to order - the website doesn’t work and googling them doesn’t bring up any typical takeaway links (eg: just eat)...

Update on The Poodle Club courtesy of their twitter: Looking to open again in September with sexy new distancing manoeuvres and lashings of hand sanitiser. Can't wait! (They are hosting an open air extravaganza - 10 acts and 3 hours of comedy - at the bowling green, Livesley Hall in Lower Syd in mid...

Re: Local eateries

Nearly all coffee shops are open still with some having put in place self-imposes restrictions (eg: SE20 cycles who have a small coffee shop inside have a locked door policy and you need to knock to come in essentially limiting numbers). Some are also online eg: Cobbs Corner are on Ubereats Bottle s...

New shops on Kirkdale

Two new shops open/opening that I thought I’d flag up in case people don’t commonly head that way: - Icy Cakes 🧁 is open as of today and specialises in cupcakes, traybakes, cakes and also have a small selection other things on the menu (eg: patties, sandwiches). Only a small place so more takeaway t...

Re: New shop opening?

Apologies - somehow missed that in the thread - I guess there may be the possibility that the whole area is “number 56” and the shop may still stand as a shop (being as you have not seen a change in use and the residence may just be the area behind the shop)

Great! Thanks for letting us know-sometimes old shop signs are only revealed for a matter of hours before being covered up again/replaced,so I popped down this morning to have a look and take some photos.Yes, it's 'Treble Clef' (formerly 'The Record Forum') Sydenham's premier record shop of the 197...

Re: New shop opening?

No idea but would be good/nice to know! A small restaurant I think would work perfectly on the high street - wishful thinking but a small Thai, Tapas, Mexican or other would be amazing. The corner St Christopher’s and the large double unit opposite Pure Gym both have change of license applications (...
