Re: Washing machine
To be perfectly honest, it's an easy job - you could do it yourself. If you haven't got the manual then try Googling, but essentially it's just connecting a red hose and a blue one. Good luck in any case. Spoken by somone who clearly hasn't witnessed me trying to do DIY. I'l call an expert, but tha...

Re: Washing machine
You could ask Sydenham DIY Tel: 020 8776 7020 near Sydenham station as they're affiliated with a plumbing shop and one or the other could probably offer a name. Assuming it might well take two visits, perhaps check pricing first in case an hourly minimum charge would apply. I'm surprised a flooring...

Washing machine
Can anyone recommend someone who can disconnect (then later reconnect) a washing machine for me? I'm getting the floor relaid in my kitchen but will need to move the washine machine first. The place I used when I got it installed (on the High Street) seems to have shut down and is empty. Any suggest...

Re: Moynuls restaurant
Yeah, I fear this is probably the case too. Not only is it a shame to lose a good takeaway option it's just that absolutely nothing seems to last in Sydenham..especially down the lower end of the High Street towards Moynuls area. The number of empty shops must be apporaching double figures. I wonder...

Re: Moynuls restaurant
Noticed this walking past the other day. I hope not, they do good food in there. Perhaps its being refurbished to brighten it up a bit. It's very dark in there and doesn't look very invitiing on first glance - despite the fact it has a friendly owner and good food!

Re: New St Christopher's Charity Shop
To open in the old betting shop on the corner of Newlands Park. I for one think that St Christopher's is an outstanding Hospice and Charitable organisation and I fully support their cause and good work. However Sydenham is now a high street of Charity Shops, Estate Agents and Pound Shops. It seems ...

Estate agent I believe. Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward.
The space seems far too large for an estate agent but never mind...

Former Carnival shop
At the corner of Kent House Road.
It's being turned into some sort of office space. The ex kebab shop next to it is also becoming something (probably flats).

Trains post May 20
I confess I haven't looked very carefully at the timetables online as I'm not sure what the names of the routes that currently go through Sydenham are but does anyone know how drastically the trians are set to change from May 20? https://www.railplan2020.com/timetables I assume London Overground is ...
Re: Mopeds
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-44045128 - Interesting link in light this this discussion. Sydenham seems to be around mid-table if you imagine league of the most dangerous areas for this type of crime.
Re: Mopeds
I think the original poster was alerting us to potential crimes and unpleasantness visited upon our persons - not bravado , derring do or other winsome sounding ways of describing these young tikes-on-bikes. Thanks Nigel. I can confirm an alert was the intention of my post. I have no proof that the...
Mopeds
May have been nothing but my girlfriend and I spotted two mopeds/motorbikes zooming down the high street last night (around 7pm). The people were wearing balaclavas/masks. Thought I'd put a warning out there as I know there have been a few 'moped muggings' in Penge and surrounding area recently. I g...

Re: Remember to vote today
I was very tempted to spoil my ballot today (for the local councillors election) but opted against it purely because I knew it wouldn't be read. The jist of what I wanted to say was that at no point during the 18-months that I have now lived in the area has any local councillor posted anything throu...

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site
It doesn't actually say where in Sydenham it will be on that advert (neither did the previous advert from what I can tell). However, I struggle to see where else it would be unless its in a much smaller unit somewhere else (there are plenty of empty shops) or at Bell Green where Toys R Us was.
