Re: High Street banners

apparently, according to a friend who works at Skanska (but not this area) the Lewisham lighting contract is now textbook for how not to do it in Skanska literature, as they're losing huge sums of money on it, and will be for 15 years, due to the large amount of 'victorian infrastructure', they reck...

Re: Tennis courts in Mayow Park

I believe that would be correct Lee - otherwise I don't know how they'd enforce making sure taht all players are members without having someone on site at all times, and if they do that, they've got more money than they need, and they wouldn't need the online booking form or the electronic locking g...

Re: Tennis courts in Mayow Park

it's not £5 each - it's one price of £5 for an hour, presumably once you're in you could have a doubles match, so £1.25 each, and if nobody turns up for the next hour, there would be nothing to stop you from playing on until someone does turn up for a booked session, and there are two courts, so you...

Re: In Penge

we went on Saturday afternoon, they had craft/making thing in back room. we got the tail end of making small mirrors/badges. very entertaining for small boy to do colouring, then watch machine being used to attatch pieces together.
nice shop - should be a good addition to that part of the high st.

Re: Westwood Hill Speed Camera

the council are currently doing speed checks (those places where two rubber wires are stretched across the road in parallel) - these capture details of passing vehicles, including data/time, speed, and weight of vehicle. This data can be used to determine the average traffic speed, and the quartiles...

Re: Westwood Hill Speed Camera

.... Which crazy idiot sanctioned this??  An oblivious overpaid asshole at the council that's paid a fortune of tax payer's money to f**k over said tax payers? Highly likely. As a council employee, and a highways engineer, albeit a different borough, I find you post incredibly na...

Re: High Street banners

not about the banners, but following on about apathy from Skanska - when the new lights were installed around the Mayow Park area I complained to Lewisham, that the column was higher up, and brighter, and shining through my bedroom window. they told me I should contact Skanska, which I duly did. I g...

Re: postal deliveries

There was a time when first class post was delivered before you left for work, and second class post was delivered before mid day. That changed a while ago, so that they could deliver at any time during the day (though usually in the morning), but I was under the impression that this meant that post...

Re: Save Beer Rebellion - we need your help!

I emailed Matt, here is his reply Hi Jon! Thanks so much for making contact. The response has been amazing, and I think that we have upwards of 20 people that have offered to each put in £1k. At this stage we are keeping it to 1 person, 1 vote, 1 payment - but in spring I'd like us to do some crowd ...

Re: Save Beer Rebellion - we need your help!

I'd like to help, but don't have £1k spare - maybe they'll accept two people sharing this (£500 each?). I've been in there a few times and enjoyed it each time - it could be great! yes, they should be open during the day for tea/coffee. I wonder what the licencing is like - ie do they have a licence...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

I did contact Phox and Co, who said they'd look into it. They are currently just a pop up bar at Brixton food market and other places but they specialise in selling local (South London Breweries) beers. This might be too much for them, but as a pop up it might work for a while.

Re: Lewisham wide 20mph roads

I thought about translating the Russian but have realised that it's spam, a google search/translation just brings up loads of posts on different forums (fora?) with exactly the same whole message, but from what I remember it's something that Konfusious (sp?) said - about people who don't love to tal...

Re: Lewisham wide 20mph roads

I've driven on lots of roads at 30mph, and lots of roads now at 20mph (and lots with higher speed limits too) - I've never hit and killed a pedestrian, at 30mph or 20mph or any other speed. my own personal pedestrian death rate has not decreased because I'm driving slower. apparently, my car is givi...
