Re: Beggars on the high street

I am getting sick them on the overground. Far too many in my opinion, and TFL are absolutely ignoring it. Busking and begging is illegal on public transport. Both are plentiful on the overground. Action to stop this should be taken and pronto! Call British Transport Police every time you see one on...

[quote="GillM"]It looked great and you could fill up bottles of wine from the barrel taps. They had those kilner type bottles. Would love something like that to open here. [/quote
Is this a very subtle joke? You know we have this at Bob Wines right by the station right?

They did some work to tidy up and repair the edges of the tiles so hopefully it's being retained

Re: sydenham needs an uplifting

I think the best thing would be demolishing it and starting again. It's a massively ugly building that as noted does not really fit with current usage patterns. We need more housing. Demolish and build 2-3 units of a size that work on the ground floor and some flats above. Preferably in a style that...

Surely if we are looking for chains to compete with existing high street offerings we should be asking for a KFC not McDs?

So is this expected to be another cookie cutter Fullers tied pub? If so that's rather disappointing

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

I like Nados. So that would be good. I imagine any cinema would be smallish. Maybe more comfortable. There are some good independents out there who do survive by offering something different to the multiplexes. Wait till after the multiplexes to show new films. Show older films. Show foreign films. ...

Re: Hotel Sydenham Hill

He Travellodge I Penge is a bit weird. We had to stay one night there about 4 years ago. We were having work done on the house and returned home to no water which was unexpected. The travlelodge was the only place we could go at 10pm on a Sunday night. It had just been refurbished so was clean and n...

Sounds like a mess and a pity if those who founded LK are no longer friends. Hopefully both new companies will be successful and continue to offer great service to the local community

Screw the unusual stuff you want once in a blue moon. Coop were reliable for the staples. Budgens don't even stick brown rice

Either a skip if you have plenty of other stuff you need rid of or a hippo bag of the appropriate size (B&Q have them in the building yard out back)

There could be any number of reasons. Many of them not related to the viability of the business. I know that the bistro was a dream of the owners realised after a long time. Perhaps the reality of running a bistro open for 3 meals 7 days a week did not match the dream?

Re: Co-operative Food store to rebrand as a Budgens store

Considering that's 3 people now who have particularly praised the fresh bread from the Co-op bakery it has made me realize that a bakery is the one shop we don't have in Sydenham... not counting the cake shop. The 'cake' shop is actually a full bakery. Sells bread and savoury pastries as well as ca...
