Re: Anti mask culture

Many thanks JGD. I suppose we need a time machine to go back for each person who has symptoms to before they had and track and trace contacts in the days prior. It does seem though that the most virulent exposure recorded is in the first few days of a person showing symptoms - and recognising them a...

Re: Anti mask culture

Does anyone know what's said by the science if "you" are covid free then imbibe some covid droplets, how quickly you transmit these to another? Do you instantly (and thereafter) breathe the virus out possibly onto others or does it need to take hold in you first (incubation for symptoms ti...

Re: Refurbishment of Billings in September

Will Billings be doing deliveries or ring and collect as I think they have other shops too don't they? They won't want their regular customers to drift away so it might be worth asking.

Re: Refurbishment of Billings in September

I'm not a big cheese eater but found these people who'll deliver Dorset Red for £5.95 if under £25, which isn't bad if buying a batch with other cheeses or meats from their menu: https://www.thedorsetmeatcompany.co.uk/product/dorset-red-190g/ They say it's not dissimilar to Red Leicester, which is e...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

Surely the fact is that it is done now and the temporary measure could be there for 6-18 mths during full consultation. As the chances of getting the measure reversed overnight must be nil to zero, maybe time would be better spent collecting evidence and formulating an objection or alternative submi...

Re: Stunning Sydenham

Stunning indeed. It's been sunny and an almost cloudless sky for a few days now at 4.30am, though not necessarily the brilliant red captured perfectly on Mr Cameron's video. Then the cumulus cotton wool clouds wake up and fill the sky not that much later. On a whim, I bought one of those 8cm crystal...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

Thank you Sydenham. It seems to have been changed since public feedback "could be" considered is now "will be", and now forming part of a full statutory consultation. It does say that the ETO (presumably temporary measure) may be in force for 6-18 months. " The data and publ...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

Sydenham, the decision appears already to have been taken. What majority percentage of adverse or disapproval comments would be needed to effect a U-turn?

I'm sure many would add their comments to the website if they thought it'd make a jot of difference to what seems to be a done deal.

Re: Property Photography

I genuinely wish you well. I'm wondering though: How do your photos supersede estate agents' photos, usually taken according to what they think will "sell" a property on their online listings? Or do you come into your own for private property sales adverts?

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic

If the road closure was intended to increase pedestrianism and cycling, I haven't noticed many of either and certainly no increase. It is quieter and noticeably much less fumy (especially while windows are open) without twice daily traffic queues which is good for me on the face of it. However, if t...

Re: Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come

In timeline terms, I don't think Johnson did much of anything until after he'd come out of ITU having caught the virus. Matt Hancock has claimed they're working round the clock, night and day, to resolve supply problems etc, seemingly in a "busy going nowhere" way. Most advice is still con...

Re: Local Government Boundary Commission - Lewisham final proposal for Wards

I think I might have leapt to the wrong conclusion as on rereading it looks like it is purely for local councillor representation. If so, I probably won't lose sleep as I doubt changes will make much difference to most of us across the borough. I've only written to a councillor once and got no reply...

Re: Lockdown Easement: WHO warn the worst is yet to come

Daily Mail aside, I'm sure that a larger fault is with the government for incompetent statistic assimilation and dissemination of even those they do have. I can't say I've noticed a flood of people out and about since Monday, which is not good for retailers but maybe more a sign that no-one has trus...

Re: Local Government Boundary Commission - Lewisham final proposal for Wards

... The review is intended to ensure every councillor represents a similar number of people across the borough. ... I thought the intention was to equalise MP's constituents, e.g. 500 apiece, not councillors, hence rejected previously by Scotland and Northern Island as too much distance to cover in...

... I have too - if I get a thirty foot ladder out, climb up onto my highest chimney and stand on one leg. Go on, you know you want to ;) (Please don't.) I climbed a ladder to paint the upstairs outside windows and did the stupid thing of overstretching. I started to feel the ladder going and corre...

Re: Freeview reception problems?

alywin, I'm surprised you're still using a ring aerial. My indoor aerial reception problems, especially helicopter disruption also suspected weather effect, stopped when I bought flat panel aerials (for each TV). I mentioned these about a year ago so the price has gone up a bit but still within £10 ...

Re: Bell Green car park

It is true for most things that payment is deemed to mean that you accepted the charge. It makes decision making difficult if costs accrue if unpaid, or are halved for prompt payment. Also, if a claim is not upheld, i.e. the original charge is held to be valid, then further charges levied will usual...

Can I add one thing, which might or might not be shown in the links, which is that you cannot legally fight a charge after you've paid it.
