reasons to be cheerful...

Knighton - I agree with a number of your points, especially the apparent oddities in the order of play for enablement - the southern section, from your comments, does appear to be easier to connect (with some major work for power/line repair, ballast replacement... blah blah..work). I think there is...

enamelled bath

I have a similar problem - steel bath with 1 or 2 minor chips in the enamel, is it easy to repair them? Suggestions on how to do it?

[ it's a plain white bath, so I would hope that colour matching shouldn't be an issue ]

cheers!

Hosting question

Hi Admin, A friend of mine (yea yea, really, honest ;-) ) is looking at setting up a web site - and asked me if I know any good hosting service providers - and I don't.. But... SydenhamTown seems to be pretty reliable to me - who do you use to host this site? Any regrets / doubts / troubles ? Also, ...

Lewisham maternity ward

Hi there! My wife had our first child at Lewisham hospital in 2004 and we both agree that the place was much better than we expected - and in fact was very good. We had a lazy baby, who preferred where she was to coming out, so my wife was induced. The midwife we had was fantastic, the ward was very...

DaveT --snip-- Dear David As we enter 2006, the project continues at pace. The project remains on schedule to be delivered by June 201...

free parking

er, what about Girton Road car park ? still free (at the moment) and I think it's reasonably clearly signposted? (although the "free" bit needs more clearly marking)

recycling bins

Now that Lewisham are operating a more general recycling policy - i.e. green bins can be used for plastic bottles, glass, card, paper etc - does anybody know if there are plans to offer larger recycling containers? Bi-weekly pickups just don't quite match the size of our bin... [ perhaps the fault i...

email or rss

A restructure sounds painful, but have to be honest I prefer the RSS feed idea more than an email notification. Generally find that when email arrives, it either gets dealt with right there and then, or not at all (and then forgotten). RSS also works on my ipaq, but I get too much email to sync emai...

sydenham shopping

Just taking a quick comparison of Sydenham high street and Penge high street... Penge has a remarkably large Sainsbury's, large iceland - but still has many other shops and quite a vibrant cafe/pavement life. Sydenham has Somerfields, and quite a "dead" pavement life . At a simple glance [...

a n other Homebase?

I'm not aversed to a bit of DIY, (not quite sure if that reads right), but _another_ Homebase (or anyother DIY store)? So, that's one in Penge - oakfield road, one at the Bromley end of southend lane, and now another at the Sydenham end of southend lane... (and there's Wicks in catford... the list g...

pensioner benifits

heh, no, not quite... just a few years off yet. [40 something to go ] I take no issue with "permanent benifits", it's the 1 year only special offer (sounds like carpet-right in penge) that really riles me - how much would your vote cost - if you were offered cash this year?, or were offere...

council tax reduction for pensioners

Sorry for being a cynic, but, I find the £200 council tax reduction as a "poverty reducing action" rather pathetic. Not because £200 is not enough, I think it is a very good figure - more so because it is for ONE YEAR ONLY. Not surprisingly - an election year. I really feel this is a cynic...

Recommendations for MOT / Service centre in Sydenham area

Hey all,

Does anybody have any recommendations (or warnings of "keep away from xxx" which are just as appreciated :-) ) for a local MOT / service center? - Peugeot preferably, but not too concerned.
