Re: Golden Lion pub

I went in for a pint yesterday evening. Like the floorboards, not so keen on the shade of green on the walls. 5 ales on the pumps, that's pretty good. It felt so massive in there, started to pine a bit for the woodwork. Was that original does anyone know?

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

I think they are doing a really nice job so far. I like the way the chimneys obscure those flats, and the wooden detailing at the edge of the roof looks great. Looking forward to seeing it with the hoardings removed, think there will be quite a lot of space. Does anyone know if the white posts surro...

Re: Another violent incident on Sydenham high street

Yeah that's true as far as I've heard. Either the criminals are a bit crap or the police are brilliant. Prob a bit of both.

Great idea about the Croydon shutters, Lee. If that ever happens I'd be happy to help art-mentor wise.

Wow, didn't see this was on. Gutted I missed it. Was it a full band or a live PA?

Hi, Is this really going to be Ska/reggae? Just looked it up on youtube and looked pretty bluesy to me. Are they doing a Ska set?

Re: Inkwa life drawing sessions

I'm massively up for this, unfortunately my wife has chosen the 30th to go out with her friends and I have to look after the little ones. Are there any more dates planned?

Re: Tomato plants?

Yeah, I think definitely blight. That's kinda the same as rotting as far as I can see? I did rescue one and it is in a pot in the garden drying in the super sun but it doesn't look too happy. I had the same thing JRobinson, what looked like tomato plants growing from my compost, but i picked them al...

Tomato plants?

Hi all, does anyone have any spare tomato plants?

I usually have too many but this year I built a polytunnel to grow them in without adequate ventilation and they all rotted!

Could just get some from the garden centre, but thought I would try here on the offchance.

Cheers,
Will

Re: Jim Dowd: a man with his finger on the pulse.

Yes, I suppose no sense stirring if it looks like we might be reaching a conclusion.
Just I was enthusiastic about putting some of my artwork on the hoardings until I realised it might make Purelake appear to have some sort of affinity with the local community.

Re: Jim Dowd: a man with his finger on the pulse.

Hi all. Forgive my blundering into this thread with a large lack of knowledge, but in the last month or so I have become aware that Jim Dowd is brothers with Gerry Dowd, who is one of the directors of Purelake. Is there something that is not known to the public about the Greyhound being demolished a...

More than happy to have my image put on the hoardings, Does anyone have the facilities to make that happen?

Yes I'll be at the meeting. Definitely needs to move forward now!

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey

http://www.willtubby.com/Greyhound.jpg Hope that works. I would far rather have something like this as a pub/coffee bar/cafe/restaurant community room at the 'Gateway to Sydenham' than a flattened forecourt to a load of shops and flats. It makes me frustrated at the thought that Purelake could get ...

Re: House prices

Yeah. It was my birthday recently and I decided to walk up from Lower Sydenham up the high street and along Dartmouth road to have a pint at the Wetherspoons in FH. I imagined i would see loads of gentrification, but after Sugahill and into 'Kirkdale Village' (apart from the nice new painted sign) i...

Re: CELEBRITY IN SYDENHAM

That is a brilliant idea. I think we should knock one up as soon as possible and use it to generate publicity about the Greyhound saga.
I can draw one to pitch the idea, anyone know how to make one that is safe/will stand up to the weather? A big balloon perhaps?

Re: Mayow Park Café Operators Announced!

Great, very much looking forward to having a cafe in Mayow park, and looks like a good choice. Is there a timescale in place? Also I was told at some point in the last couple of months that the bowls green was going to be a health and wellbeing kind of thing - had a bit of a fantasy about yoga and c...
