Newlands Park this AM
Apparently lots of police and traffic jams at about 10am. Does anyone know what was happening?

Re: The two half´s pub
I saw a fight taking place whilst passing by the other afternoon. Someone was waving their crutch at someone else. Nice. :D This might be our chance to get on a marketing drive to get a decent bar or restaurant or shop in that spot! Any ideas? I know a bar called Sun and Doves (I think, based in Cam...

Re: Local Primary School Open Days?
I would really try and phone them.
Schools websites are not always kept up to date and they do seem to arrange things in different ways.
I had to make an appointment to see one school where some pupils showed me around and at another I had to book a place because it had smaller multiple open days.

Re: theatre space wanted
Hello There was a lovely large, double-fronted detached house on Vennner Road that was being used by artists, I think as an exhibition space a year or two ago. It is on your right hand side if walking from Sydenham High street just past Tredown Road. Have you considered asking the new owners of the ...

Re: SAYING YES TO THE MOSAIC ON THE NABORHOOD CENTRE?
Robin, people would probably say 'yes' because they would be grateful that 'something' at last was being done about the dreadful state of that building, and for that reason only. It's twee and lacks any sophistication. My husband and I were lost for words when we saw the cat! To pretend it has subst...

They seem to be completely separate Scott.
Fish counter down one end, near the window, butcher at another counter at the back of the shop.
Bought sausages and rashers from there and my family really enjoyed them.
We wish them all the best.

Re: Planters on Sydenham Road and Venner
Dear Cllr Best It's good to hear that the main planters on Sydehnam Road are 'at last' going to get some attention as well as some less obvious ones. I fear £600 will not go far though, particularly considering the size of the one at the top of Kent House. This question is to you and Tim Lund: If pe...

Re: 255-269 Sydenham Road - Planning Application
Sorry, haven't had time to read all the posts fully, but is this the row of buildings, which are slightly set back and where the front doors seem to come right up to the pavement? If so, can Steve Grindley, our local historian tell us more about them? If it is not too late could someone apply to hav...

Re: SAYING YES TO THE MOSAIC ON THE NABORHOOD CENTRE?
Hear, Hear Scott!! Another voice of reason!! It is looking more and more like a travesty, sadly... The art work that is being commissioned for the Greyhound site seems to be using a different process completely. Different artists submitted ideas, local people were able to comment on them in a commen...

Planters on Sydenham Road and Venner
This is in response to a message from Chris Best on the assembly thread but it really needs a thread of its own, also ties in with the Kirkdale Village plans... I have said on this forum before that we need to use some imagination when dealing with the planters, which are in a desperately neglected ...

Re: Sydenham Assembly 11 am this Saturday 11 June
I can't believe the mosaic has got another £2,000! What have they spent the last £10,000 on? Has it really been spent or is it being kept for materials. Can we have a break down please? How do new windows, paint job, railings etc feature in the mosaic plan? If they don't it is even more misguided th...

Hi Suzee What I love about living close to Alexandra Rec is it is often buzzing with activity. Dog walkers, football matches, people cycling through with children or walking through on their way to and from work and school or just sitting on a bench watching the world go by... I have also seen peopl...

How to object to the Naborhood mosaic
Here is the email address for objection, which is now buried in another thread: planning@lewisham.gov.uk Application number is DC/11/77128/FT Deadline is June 15th! Re: NO TO THE MOSAIC ON THE NABORHOOD CENTRE
Re" the cat in the jug", isn't this supposed to be the Sydenham Centre, not the Lewisham Centre?
Was the artist born in Sydenham? If not I really don't see the connection and such references should be left to any art the town hall itself might want.

Re: Primary Schools?
There is a need for a primary school to serve central Sydenham. If you live anywhere between Lawrie Park area and down to Kent House, for example, it really is down to luck it seems. I wouldn't rule out the faith schools though. They all take a significant number of children from non-faith families....
