Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
I don’t think the SE23 mods are making the right noises at all. They are talking about Chris taking a ‘break’. He’ll be back and nothing will have changed. Moreover, no one is addressing Michael’s post stating that CB has been banned from other forums for sock puppetry. CB’s claims that this is a o...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
I think the revised moderation team deserve a chance to get on with running a good forum. They gave users the option on what to do with the topic. So far only one person has voted to delete the thread, most have voted to leave it as is, and others have voted to close the thread (but leave it visibl...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
I will never return. Chris will never cede control of the forum to anyone else. And why should he? He owns it. The conventions of what an admin should be, how they should behave are no more than that: conventions. There’s no law that says he can’t do what he’s doing. All we can do is walk away when ...

Re: Moving to Sydenham
As far as crime figures are concerned, I think they lack the nuance to indicate whether you personally are likely to be a victim of or personally affected by a crime. Rates can be relatively high where you live, but you might be statistically unlikely to be a victim, based on your occupation, where ...

Re: Sydenham - community activity ?
That’s okay, JGD. I don’t as a rule post anything behind closed doors that I wouldn’t say in public, so the consequences are mine to take. I tend to treat unsolicited PMs the way I do cold callers. ;-) I take Stuart’s point about no making unnecessary trouble for the admin here. As VB is no longer a...

Re: Sydenham - community activity ?
Understood, topofthehill. My reply was by way of adding context in terms of how you might assess whether you had been lied to or not. Of course we might all be talking about different people.

I stand corrected. He does have access to these posts as he has just PMed me with reference to my last. As you were.

Re: Sydenham - community activity ?
Does anyone have actual proof of these allegations? At a very well attended and convivial social meet up of se23.life forum members last week the person in question told me in a private conversation that he is not LP. He was not even aware of these recent posts. I also have proof of the person in q...

Their twitter account is still very active. Lots of RTs and their last stand alone tweet was promoting the Easter Bonnet making event.

Re: where are our closest bluebell woods??
You’ve just missed the peak of the bluebells in Beckenham Place Park woods, but they were spectacular. Best last week of April, usually. As part of the restoration of the woods, a lot of invasive ground cover was cleared late this winter, which should allow for an even bigger carpet of bluebells nex...

Going to agree with you on the beans, Parker1970. Always bought Heinz beans, but noticed recently they were getting more and more insipid. Tried Branson beans based on a taste test I saw somewhere and they are DELICIOUS and the way I remember Heinz used to be.

Thank you, Supreme, for responding here. I look forward to hearing good reports on your cod soon. (Keep it skinless and you’ll almost certain have my business!)

Re: Supreme Fish Bar
No one has done anything wrong here. They have reported their actual experience. Ever heard of reviews? Same thing. It’s not gossip or tittle-tattle. My response was exactly what you’ve just yourself suggested, syenhamboy, that IF people have genuine concerns they should consider reporting it for fu...

Re: Supreme Fish Bar
If they are passing off a cheap fish as cod, perhaps it needs to be reported? There’s the possibility of a public health risk there, i think. I’m so sad to read this - we’ve been getting our fish there for more than ten years. It was alway fresh, tasty and HUGE. One way to start a vicious rumour an...

Re: Supreme Fish Bar
The one at Penge East station has long been recommended around here. The problem for us is that my OH can’t abide skin on battered fish (it’s not something we’ve come across anywhere outside London). Supreme was the only place we found that did skinless battered fish.

Re: Bell Green - A New Plan, January 2019
Given how long the gasholders have been under threat of demolition, I wonder why this plan is only appearing now? I mean, it’s been YEARS. I am neutral about whether the gasholders stay or go, btw. I just find the timing of this interesting. Is it the new players in the game - Discourse Architecture...
