Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

According to the HNF website, the sign is for Zanzibar not the main building. It is misleading, the picture of it and where the sign is. 60k per year.

They're not going to open a branch in Sydenham just so we can have a Post Office, though.
No, but a lot of high streets have a WHSmith. It just seemed quite plausible for them to consider opening a branch.

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

If true this is bad news for immediate residents. Has anyone thought about the resulting parking issues this will generate? It's bad enough with commuters, Pure Gym users and Sainsburys Local shoppers vying for spaces not to mention long suffering residents who merely want to park in the road they ...

In the Bromley Times: http://www.bromleytimes.co.uk/news/have-your-say-on-plans-to-transform-sydenham-post-office-into-franchised-shared-shop-space-1-4972294 Residents around Sydenham are being urged to have their say on proposed changes to their local post office. Under plans, the Sydenham Road bra...

Re: Welcome Sign in Ladywell

I did ask Network Rail whether they could do one on the wall which is covered with graffiti opposite the platform at Sydenham station but never got a reply. Would be nice to see, if not there, somewhere in Sydenham.

Are you referring to this? http://www.familymosaicsales.co.uk/media-centre/latest-news/land-acquired-for-33-home-mixed-tenure-site-in-lewisham/ If so, planning permission was refused for two reasons last year (see here: http://planning.lewisham.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?active...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

Really hopeful that these rumours are true. With The Alexandra and Greyhound as new openings, there is quite a bit more going for Sydenham and this could foster more positive additions as footfall increases. Yay for sydenham I defiantly believe 2017 will see increased change in Sydenham. The area i...

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

I visit Nandos and Pizza Express equally often so I'd welcome either. If its to be a Nandos, it will do well - they're very popular with my [the child - 30s] demographic. Nandos tends to be busier than Pizza Express, especially in the evenings, meaning it would take a lot of money. Pizza Express ten...

Re: Namaste site looking hideous!

I've said it for a while Lewisham council are almost useless. Everyone I speak to wonders what on earth the council actually does with the council tax money. They can't be bothered just to get basic things like the banners to be fixed. Our MP is almost invisible and it doesn't help that Sydenham is ...

Re: Budgens

It is true Waitrose do or did expansion plans on hold, one in a commuter town of Nottingham, I was told in December is on hold. That being said, according to their website, they've just opened two new branches (in Oxfordshire and Leatherhead). There is no harm in suggesting Sydenham, we are an area ...

I work in retail (in a department store) and I must stay it is not looking good for Budgens in Sydenham. I've only been in twice since it became Budgens and have no desire to go back. Staff look very demoralised, and its just empty. I think people just see it as something trying to be upmarket with ...

Re: Reduction in services from London Bridge

At the moment commuter trains (not long distance intercity trains) are only officially late if they do not arrive within five minutes of their scheduled arrival time. The government, quite correctly, aims to tighten these rules in two years time to financially penalise companies who consistently br...

Re: Southern Timetable Consultation

My husband and I use the Highbury and Islington service daily. Don't judge what is needed only by what *you* need. Obviously, but that doesn't mean we need more than double the number of Southern services at expense of Southern/Thameslink. 10 LO trains per hour and 4 Southern with none to East Croy...

HI If someone could make it easy for me - i.e. cut and paste "this" and post / send "here" - I would happily do so. Link to Gatwick is one of the reasons I bought in Sydenham I use the London Bridge Services and am frustrated a the increased wait time already. I am also frustrat...

Re: Southern Timetable Consultation

H Why is it we're lumbered with so many trains to Highbury & Islington and West Croydon that have hardly any seats and are slow as f***? We've lost trains to Charing Cross and now possibly losing trains to EAST CROYDON! Additionally, our services to London Bridge are more important than Highbur...

Re: Proposed Constituency Boundaries

My biggest problem with these proposals is the fact SE26 will actually be split between 5 constituencies. Bell Green will be part of Lewisham & Catford, Sydenham Avenue/CP Park Road will be Croydon North, Cator/Wiverton/Venner Roads will be Beckenham, the Southwark side of Sydenham Hill will be...

Re: Southern Timetable Consultation

If I've understood this correctly, it won't only be Sydenham which is affected, but also stations south, namely Penge West and Anerley (but possibly more so as they don't have as many trains?), and possibly also the ones to the north as well, if you want to take that into consideration in any objec...

Re: Southern Timetable Consultation

So, basically the significant change here is that if one wants to go to Gatwick it is two changes rather than the one and on top of that seems like there are less trains? Worse still and hopefully the killer objection is that the whole of the Southern network south of East Croydon would be made ina...
