Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

as it is clearly cost prohibitive to keep the entire structure as is, my preferred choice would be for them to be dismantled, and cleaned up, the site cleared, cleaned, and de-toxificated (if that's a word), then some new development, suitably none-bland, including affordable housing (properly affor...

... ... However... there are hundred if not thousands of these ugly pieces of ironwork across the land. actually that's rather the point here. There may have been thousands at one point in time, but as they are now redundant structures a lot of them have already disappeared. There number now is cer...

Licencing, and/or Parking. They'll have had to get permission for what they're doing, and parking bay suspensions too, so if they not abiding by the rules for those they can be fined.

Re: Advice needed about groups and nice things to do in Syde

There's a badminton club in the octagonal community hall on Champion Road on Thursday nights (details on a banner on the side of the hall, but probably could just turn up - I think it's 8-10pm), and there's one at the sports centre behind Forest Hill Boys School on Tuesday nights. Tennis in Mayow Pa...

Sainsbury or Lidl?
I saw some Forest Hill School boys pushing a Sainsbury shopping trolley up De Frene Road this morning.

Re: More Trees for Sydenham High Street - can you help?

any trees approved would need a long term plan for maintenance, not just who pays to install, and who waters them once a week in the summer for the first two or three years. What happens in 20 years when they're getting too big, and need pruning, or care to avoid limbs falling on pedestrians, or veh...

Re: Cat feeding

we used We Sit Pets in Beckenham for a while, it was £10 a visit, I think, based on us being quite a way for them to come, relatively, but we were pleased with their service. They didn't use a marked up vehicle, so it wasn't obvious that they were pet sitters visiting a house where someone was absen...

What about Bob Wines, Bottle Cave, and Clapton Craft? Has anybody talked to them about stocking Ignition Brewery produce? (that is, if they don't already...)

FYI - Forest Hill Bowls club is a short walk away from Mayow park at 28 Wynell Road http://www.foresthill-bowling-club.com/home.html and the area in Mayow Park has been used for several different activities, including children's parties, a social event for the Cricket team that played there, and Fox...

Re: Bowling Green - Mayow Park

Yes as far as I'm aware Lewisham own the park, and it is managed by Glendale on their behalf. When there was a bowls group, the lawn was maintained properly, however it was a dwindling group of people who were rather less than welcoming of new members, and so was used less and less frequently, by fe...

Re: Kelvin-Helmholtz clouds over Sydenham?

the line of clear sky is either where one plane has flown through the cloud creating the clear path, or more likely it's where two planes have followed a similar path, a short distance apart, and left a gap between their 'chemtrails'.

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?

both issues will be for the council to deal with. I would imagine that there's a generic email address, something like ParkingComplainst@, or Parking@ Lewisham. There will also be one along the lines of Enforcement@ or EnvironmentalEnforcement@ but there's probably also a generic complaints page on ...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

as far as I understand it, locally listed changes the planning rules slightly, such that what might have been deemed as permitted development, now needs an agreed planning application. One such permitted development is demolition - which previously SGN could have done without planning permission, ju...

if not, then there will probably be some cladding of some sort?

should we wait till we know it's finished before passing judgement?

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

I tried on Friday, but there was a queue, so I went home. A group of six of us went in on Saturday night, saw a few people I knew as well in there. noted a few very nice, unusual beers on tap. It was very warm in there, but to be fair I had 6 layers on, and as we didn't have a table till later, ther...

anyone else definitely going tomorrow night?
I'm planning on being there, but there's only a handful of people on here that I've actually met IRL.
should we have an identification system in place so we know that we're from STF?

(I think it's four people - Leenewham, Stuart, Maria and MikeJ)

Re: old budgens

A while ago I posted a possible solution of some kind of youth centre / cafe bar/ pool hall / arcade games type place would work well there. I didn't write a business plan, or anything, so don't know if it would work financially, but the space would work for a few pool tables, maybe table tennis, ta...
