Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site
Yes, or one of the others, whose future has to be dodgy. Ever seen Next busy? I would suggest, though, that they take over the Sainsbury's cafe. It is a underused, huge space, and would be a huge success, I'm sure.

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site
It would make a lot more sense if they opened one at Bell green, in one of the empty shop units. Lots of people wanting a break after shopping.

Re: Bell Green Gasometers – A Compromise
My home is just inside Sydenham ward, but the gasholders are only a few streets away, and I see them constantly. The eccentricities of ward boundaries mean nothing, it is proximity to at matters. Bellingham ward stretches to opposite Catford station, so I fail to see why their residents have some ki...

O yes. Mike Baldwin has been contacted, as has the director of the Education Commission and its administration. No response.

Re: St Philip Neri Meeting - Thursday 19 July 7pm
Schools are included, and OLSPN is a publicly funded school. If you are correct that they are exempt, that would be a good reason to not comply. What shocked me was that they didn't acknowledge my application, and state their reasons for not sending the information. That is just rude. Not sending an...

Re: St Philip Neri Meeting - Thursday 19 July 7pm
JGD, this is not about me, it has never been 'my patch', and everyone is welcome on the thread. Over 40 residents attended, and the meeting was brilliantly chaired by Tom Copley. Viv Evans was very impressive, and took a lot in. He has been dropped into a real mess, two weeks in the job, but it cert...

Re: Sydenham Station - Man hurt on early morning of 8 July
I totally agree that it is impossible to keep determined vandals out. What worried me most was that primary school children could do it! It is the old pathway down to the original platform 1, so tempting for them to explore. The stupid thing is that fixing the gate would save them from spending a fo...

Re: Sydenham Station - Man hurt on early morning of 8 July
Have you been through the station? Sudden appearance of lots of hideous graffiti on platform one.... Incidentally, after the deaths on the track in Brixton, I reported to Network Rail about a month ago that the gate next to the Orb gives ridiculously easy access to the track. No idea if they have do...

Re: Syd Society help request for pavement opposite library?
People all ok, lucky no pedestrians were there, or they would have had no chance. High impact crash caused by speeding - I was in the library, and the impact made an incredibly loud bang.

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
JGD, Regarding the very sensible sounding procedures and conditions that bind the developers, I refer you to the St Philip Neri school redevelopment. Multiple breaches of planning agreement, but no enforcement visible, and the build continues. I keep being told by councillors that Lewisham is afraid...

At no point have I ever been rude to Larky, although my response to these kind of attacks may have been cooler than usual. Larky to JRW, 9 Jul 2018 20:38 "Stop posting inflammatory information which is not helping you at all. All the different posts that you have made on school, Hillcrest Estat...

Thank you Larky, for demonstrating my point. Your repeated attacks on my honesty are not very edifying; if you wish to see my evidence, I would be happy to meet up and take you through it. As for the Monstrosity, Lewisham is about to announce a public meeting on Thursday 19th July at 7pm, to address...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
I have to say I find the general level of disrespect on this forum annoying. Each person gets aggrieved by 'disrespect', without acknowledging their contributions in the genre. It would be really great if everyone could show a bit more tolerance, stop slinging insults, and tone down the rants until ...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
Try looking for the club online. No official website or social media, just some Facebook accounts set up by service providers - wedding planners, party planners and disc jockeys offering to put on events there. I can find no company or charity whose name includes the words Livesey or Tudor Memorial ...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
The Livesey Hall is owned outright by SGN, according to the Land Registry documents. There has been no actual club for the last 4 years apparently, although a new one is about to open in one part of the building. I can find no information online about charitable or business registration for the prev...

Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2
The current plans also involve developing on most of the land belonging to the Livesey Hall, making its future as any kind of community asset very uncertain. SGN needs to clarify its intentions regarding the Hall, given that they own it outright. There is more at stake here than the gasholders.

Re: The Monstrosity - ie St Philp Neri school building
Breaking news...... At the Sydenham Assembly, residents voted for a public meeting about the St Philip Neri School planning issues, and were promised it would be delivered. Given the likely timescale for planning enforcement action, Lewisham has agreed to hold a public meeting so we can give our fee...
