Re: Mural?

I like the last one! But I'm a sucker for a historical photo. I've followed on Twitter as well - I don't think I can make the meeting, but will be watching with interest and hopefully will be able to be involved as things move on if required!

Re: Mural?

It's on the SE26.life thread about this (I read both), saying can social media link to that thread to boost traffic to the site. I just think that if it's a community project then it should cover both forums, not boost one in particular. I don't really care about which is the pre-eminent forum for t...

Re: Mural?

I think some kind of mural is a great idea, I'm really pleased JMLF has put all that effort in.

But forum wars are deeply off-putting and really unhelpful, and if the plans start getting mired in those then I'm going to start avoiding all of it. Asking to link to SE26.life makes me uncomfortable.

Re: Mural?

For that last one (the one facing the south-bound platform) I've just asked my Network Rail employed husband. There is very little chance that you would be allowed to do that if you weren't a railway company with the properly signed off track-side training (I'm paraphrasing, in case any other NR emp...

Re: Mural?

I think it is a great idea. I've been past the Forest Hill walrus a few times and it is well done, also being under the bridge it is somewhat protected from the elements. I just wonder how long a mural would survive on an open wall exposed to all weathers? I thought it wasn't up yet? There are load...

Re: Mural?

I'd be positive about it and would happily contribute to a fundraising effort. FH are putting the Walrus in it, and Catford have the greyhounds on the bridge - what could we have that represented Sydenham to make it a bit more exciting than just the name? Or would we have a greyhound as well, especi...

Have you tried http://www.boroughphotos.org/lewisham? There are definitely some photos of Sydenham Road on there, although I don't know if they're the right stretch!

Re: Billings Christmas food

Well, now I want a sausage roll. Billings is great, we've ordered our turkey from them for Christmas! I'm still guilty of going to the supermarket for meat (sadly we don't always get back in time to get to smaller shops) but it's noticeable how much better quality stuff from Billings is when we do g...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green

W Let's be honest: this decision is going to exclude a brownfield site from being used as housing stock, which is unfortunate given the growing lists of young London workers looking for housing. I absolutely agree that we need more ( affordable ) housing stock, but I don't think this particular dec...

Re: Sydenham wish list

It does depend on which part of Kirkdale you live, Appletree, but the 202 bus which is quite frequent goes from Kirkdale (bus stop at the bottom of Wells Park Road or in Kirkdale, just beyond Peak Hill) directly to Lower Sydenham and beyond. It doesn't go to Lower Sydenham station though, it would ...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green

I say yes to more shops. More businesses more jobs and make Sydenham a place to come and stay for the day. I don't think anyone comes to an Aldi for a day out, do they? I couldn't make the planning drop in session, but my husband went instead. There were reps from the development company, planning ...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green

I've had a response to my comment on the planning application (finally!). There's a drop in at the Civic Suite next week about it - if anyone else has full details to hand please post them, I've brilliantly left them at home and am posting this from work, otherwise I'll put them up when I get home (...

How is Perry Vale a problem area? Genuine question - I agree that this incident is awful, but have there been others or was it a one off?

Re: Little Nans Bar Seek Space

Belatedly replying to this thread as it's had a mention elsewhere - I would love a cocktail bar in Sydenham. Would down near where the Poodle Club is opening be a good spot? I realise it's a bit further down the high street than might be ideal for some people. Or perhaps where Namaste used to be? I'...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green

I had a hunt on the Lewisham site for details of any further developments on this, but haven't found anything new. Has it been to Committee? I couldn't work out which of the three planning committees it might have gone to, so I hunted through all of them but couldn't find any record of a discussion ...

Re: Train services

I think it's more likely to do with the ongoing inability of Southern to resolve their dispute with the union. Drivers are on an overtime ban, which affects what train stock is where (hence short trains) as well as having to take some out of the timetable/cancel them.

Re: Wish list for Sydenham

A clothes/gift shop like Bunka in FH would be nice. Good for a browse, some quality items for presents, that sort of thing - basically a local version of Oliver Bonas (I appreciate, this is very much what I would like, not necessarily for everyone). A good bakery! The theatre speace will hopefully b...

Re: Bell Green Retail & Employment Plan Consultation

There's a planning application on the Lewisham website, you can register an objection there (as part of the "comments" tab): http://planning.lewisham.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_LEWIS_DCAPR_88583 I don't know if there's a separate specific...
