Re: Helicopter last night

Yes I heard it too but it would only be there if a major crime has been committed, so as inconvenient as it is, they're doing a very important job and fortunately it doesn't happen too often. Much more disturbing during hot weather when you need to have windows open, are those morons on quad bikes a...

Re: Moving to Sydenham

Live in Newbury do you milton? How lovely! You've obviously settled in well there and you're clearly a great ambassador for the town. It didn't take me too long to find this quote, however.......... Newbury, Berkshire. A town where the main form of entertainment is heroin or sexual assault. Beneath ...

Re: plumber recommendation?

I've had a slight leak from the mains stopcock, I very much prefer to use someone locally recommended, so I consulted this thread and on Friday evening I emailed the very obvious choice, the plumber who has been continually highly praised on here. I explained in my brief email what the problem was, ...

Re: Fire at Lower Sydenham

Just the other side of the Clarke's Coach depot. Must be one of the largest local fires in a long time, there's still a shroud of smoke hovering even 13 hours after it was first reported, clearly visible from half a mile away as the site is being well floodlit.

Fire at Lower Sydenham

Currently a huge blaze with smoke drifting 400-500ft into the sky. Looks like it's on Kangley Bridge Road very near to the railway station.

Update:- It's at a recycling warehouse on Cricket Lane.

Re: Girton Road car park - introduction of parking charges

The notices displayed in the car park state that charges would apply for stays of more than two hours. I wonder if they therefore mean 'fines' for parking in excess of two hours, with vehicle number recognition cameras installed as many car parks now do?

For really good Indian food, Rukhsana cannot be beaten IMO. I've been a regular in the restaurant since 1990, that'll be 30 years next year and they're still run by the same owner. They'll deliver takeaways to Sydenham or give the usual 10% off if you collect, their number is 8698 3035. http://www.r...

Why is it that the associated trend must have accompanying new tonics charged at double or triple the price too ? Why pay for tonic at all? Dumping tonic in a premium gin is surely just the same as putting ginger ale or lemonade in malt whisky. If I'm drinking a premium gin then a couple of drops o...

He's already targeted 58 businesses. I suppose if he just asks for relatively small amounts of money, his victims are likely to give. 58 businesses over two years, even if he always got the £38:50 he asked for (he only got £20 on this occasion) he's hardly coining it in, would hardly even cover his...
