Admin's comments re STF at end of Calais thread Town Benefit
I understand the different forum areas, with different styles of posting etc. I can see that that makes sense. It is a pity that some potentially interesting threads still get lost because of all the things I have mentioned previously...its not particularly about aggression/being nicey nicey or what...

Re: The future of Sydenham Markets
Quoting my post is fine, but would have made more sense to readers if dated, i.e. the publicity posters were for expired events (that I was seeing at the time I posted). It beats me why traders persevere when they're being charged a lot in profit recovery terms let alone clear profit for the privil...

These are fascinating! Thanks for posting
Re: Debate
Yes great but sadly I am away for several weeks soon so no me this time!
Re: Debate
PS Daisies would fall out of my hair. ! I said ages ago that this is not about "fluffy, nicey, nicey". Ah well, we probably will never agree but at least a few others not entirely happy with some of the things I mentioned in my original post have said so so perhaps the air is a little clea...
Re: Debate
Its a shame if anyone "retires"! Difficult to have a drink on a forum....which is why as admin said in an earlier post on this thread, consideration needs to be given to how others read a post! Has anyone ever arranged a Sydenham forum meet up somewhere by the way ...now THAT could be inte...

Re: Lurkers come out....
Oh well as suggested previously by someone in another post, perhaps we need a Wine Bar!
Re: Debate
This is NOT about sensitivity, its about sensible reasoned debate, see earlier posts. What on earth is the connection between heated debate, strong feelings on subjects and personal insults?

Re: Lurkers come out....
I cant wait for all this lurker input....could make for some lively intersting discussion
Re: Debate
The more who post, the wider the viewpoints, the more interesting it becomes...and I think it is a shame if because of my post the "regulars" feel they will withdraw or lurk (but I may be making incorrect assumptions there) .......well if nothing else my post seems to have created a debate...
Re: Debate
Good suggestion Annie. And so the mystery continues ...Tim?
Re: Debate
No idea re Tim's graphic - I am awaiting enlightenment
Agree re the arguing for the sake of it ! A pity.

Re: Debate
Well said Nigel. I have noticed a number of your attempts to defuse arguments, sadly not always successful. Negative views/comments are absolutely part of debate as are differing views on many different things. As you say downright rudeness is just not necessary and, as I said previously, hinders go...
Re: Debate
Passions can run high without being reduced to sarcasm and derogatory remarks. I think that would depend on who you are talking to and what you are responding to. But I accept your broader point. For the most part admin doesn't actually ban discussion of any or all topics. . Whoever you are talking...
