Keys must be kept in bedroom ???!!!! Surely not. When we were burgled the thief got in by breaking a glass panel in the front door without breaking the locks (must have been a skinny thing) and got out via the French doors.. the keys to the doors were on the table. I'm pleased actually that the keys...

We were burgled about 5 years ago in Westwood Hill and afterwards I called the Crime Prevention office who sent an officer round to give us advice on security. One thing he said to me - which served me well some weeks later when I had a well-dressed lady begging for "money for her gas meter&quo...

We met Brian the plasterer this morning and he was very thourough, he had a good look at the work to be done, told us what it would entail, how much it would cost and we've booked him for late March. He is very passionate about his work , in his words 'its his life', he had an impressive protfilio o...

I can echo what Nasaroc has said regarding the fear of crime being far greater than the actual truth. I am in a position at the moment where I am privvy to a lot of information about violent crime and contrary to what I may have thought previously, working in this field has been very very reassuring...

Mr Savvy and I went in early for the first time last night and the bar staff were very friendly and professional. It was empty though - we were the only people in there till we left at 8.30! The fire is great, its a real one too - not a faux gas affair. I think we'll be making this a regular stop on...

No No!!! Please don't suggest they turn down the indie-focused music... that's a real crowd puller (well for the sort of crowd I hang out with). I haven't been yet but now you've told me about the music I'll be sure to pop in asap.

It was an incident involving two, maybe three young males, possibly known to each other (in a "rival gang" sense) and very likely known to the police. I believe arrests have been made.

... especially walking uphill with a rucksack full of tinned cat food and bags of flour. Its hard, phew, but you feel a real sense of achievement afterwards.

Rebelmc, how far do you live from the high street that you have to drive there?!! Please excuse me if you are disabled or elderly. If not, if you're fit and healthy, why not don a rucksack and take a walk. Its great excersize.

I think you will find that it is a statutory obligation for BT to provide phone boxes. From what I understand they make huge losses on them and wouldn't provide them if they didn't have to. The advertising revenue is likely a drop in the ocean to what it costs in mainitainence etc....

We had some new window locks fitted about 3yrs ago when we lived near that house. The guy from the security company also fitted the security stuff over there and he told us the house was owned by an old lady living elsewhere, didn't say where tho'.

OK, not Spooky, but it would be odd nowadays. The London I have always known has been multicultural and for me it was interesting to see a photograph of a very differnt time when it was a different place. As for whether things were better I don't know, I'm not old enough, but I would suspect that th...

Have you noticed there are no black faces in that photograph? Its kinda spooky. I notice the same nowadays when I visit my friend in Farnham, Surrey, and to tell the truth, it makes me feel a bit uncomfortable - I'm always relieved to get back to London where there's a proper mix of people! (I'm whi...
