Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I agree with Lee. Surely the most important point is whether we end up with a great pub that people can enjoy, rather than whether potential new owners have the temerity to upset Rod by being successful in running more than one pub. I really don't understand that attitude
Re: Bob Wines
I couldn't agree more with all of the above. The council should be trying to make setting up business in Sydenham more attractive, not going out of their way to make it harder

Re: Parking problems
I live in Upper Sydenham just off Kirkdale and don't own a car, but have started to notice that when friends or relatives come to stay they are finding it increasingly difficult to find a space. I am against the 'dumping' of cars on residential streets by businesses and the ridiculous antics of some...

Re: Meeting re Kirkdale issues?
I'm delighted with the plans - the sooner we can get the site back in use the better. Combined with the potential council improvement plans mentioned elsewhere hopefully this part of Kirkdale could be much improved in the next couple of years I also noticed that these plans appear to be proposed by ...

Re: Meeting re Kirkdale issues?
I agree that every time a new business tries to open they seem to face an uphill battle to get planning permission. I'm sure that everyone has the area's best interests at heart, but it seems to be having a really negative impact. In the last year or so we seem to have missed out on new convenience ...

Re: If you moved form Sydenham, where would you go?
- we love it here so it won't be for a while, but eventually perhaps somewhere outside the M25 with a bigger garden - normally in Sydenham or Forest Hill. Dulwich or central London occasionally - sainsburys, lidl or penge aldi for food shopping, online for almost everything else - Hibagon, 161 or Du...

Re: Night Tube
A bit annoying really. I think I had read somewhere that this was due to the need for evening work on the line going into London Bridge as part of Thameslink (although this sounds a bit like an excuse to me). On the upside the tfl website does say: 'We also plan to expand the night time service to p...

Re: KIRKDALE HIGH STREET CONSULTATION
I'm delighted that investment is proposed for this area and look forward to its improvement, but I take issue with it being described as in 'dire straits'. 161 and Fig & Pistachio have both recently opened and are great and Hibagon Sushi is due to open on 5 June in That's Amore's place. Together...

Re: Sydenham Police Station - Public Consultation
I hadn't realised that the building on the corner of Willow Way and Dartmouth Road used to be a police station. Unfortunately I won't be able to get there on Tuesday but would appreciate it if anyone that goes along could post some details. The company website says that "asra Housing Group has ...

Re: Kirkdale High Street Update!
Thanks for the update JMLF - I was one of the people staring up at the flats now the scaffolding has come down. There seems to have been plenty of work going on with the ground floor recently so hopefully it won't be too long before that is completed too.

Re: Windmill Victory
The building that housed the Windmill has been boarded up for about 14 months now and is becoming more and more of an eyesore. All that seems to have been 'won' is that a new shop, which as a local resident I would have welcomed, has been stopped from opening and other businesses have been given the...

Re: Talma -Planning Application
I may have misread the application, but I think it is to refurbish and reopen the Talma and provide some additional housing above and below. If the investment in the building encourages a responsible owner/operator to think they can run a nice pub here (which is considerate of locals) then I don't s...

Re: Uninhibited parking Cobbs and Lawrie park rd
I am a frequent reader of the forum but as a relatively new resident who moved to Kirkdale in mid 2014, I haven't often felt compelled to post. However, I feel the cynical and bullying approach from Lee Jasper and MrT should be responded to. The painful experience of residents over several years (do...

Re: Kirkdale High Street Update!
Thanks for the update JMLF. It's great that new businesses are opening in Kirkdale High Street and I completely agree with you on Fig and Pistachio and 161. Hopefully their success will tempt someone to take over at the Windmill at 125 Kirkdale (I think the site is still up for sale, ad below). Fing...

Re: Fig & Pistachio??
I completely agree, Fig & Pistachio is great - we pop down there at the weekend for breakfast. 161 wine bar further down on Kirkdale is fantastic too for good wines, a few guest beers and food too - here's hoping someone new takes over the recently closed That's Amoré restaurant soon
