Re: NEW: LGBTQIA+ Book Group at Kirkdale Bookshop!
Why on earth would an event advertisement not be allowed? They're very common on the forum and they're an important part of the community. The abbreviation used is very common, some people have (reasonable) issues with part of it but no one appears to be upset at the event in question. Why on earth ...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
I don't think CB is ever going to admit that he's secretly an unpleasant person and the extent of his duplicity. I am starting to wonder how useful continuing to discuss it is when nothing has changed. I absolutely think that this thread should remain up in case the situation changes, and as a recor...

Re: The Drowning Place - Beckenham Place Park
However... it may well be the covenant refers to the people of the district of Catford. It was an urban district by nature so whether or not it was formally governed as a UDC is somewhat irrelevant . Feel free to troll on. The Beckenham Place Friends history does not refer to LCC purchasing the Par...

Re: The Drowning Place - Beckenham Place Park
That's strange, as I'd expect there to be records for it somewhere if it existed other than in a mention in deeds. Regardless, it clearly has nothing to do with Beckenham Place Park as the LCC bought it directly from the Cator family. It was given to the borough. The Cator family disposed of their ...

Re: The Drowning Place - Beckenham Place Park
There was indeed an urban district of Catford... and while London County Council may well have purchased the land from the Urban District the covenant would still apply. The records are held by Lewisham. Not according to the National Archives, or according to the Lewisham Archives catalogue - I che...

Re: The Drowning Place - Beckenham Place Park
Whilst there may be a covenant specifying that the park is for the free use of residents, I don't think it's for residents of the Urban District Council of Catford. I can't find any evidence of that body (and historical evidence of such things is my day job, so if it existed, I'd be able to find whe...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
Ah, I didn't realise "trust" levels meant you could do that . I've never used a forum where anyone without admin privileges could edit thread titles. I'm not entirely convinced by the poster in question, but will downgrade my suspicions!

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
To go back to sockpuppeting briefly - I've noticed a non-mod on the other forum making reference to editing titles of threads. Assuming that this isn't a standard ability, would I be right in thinking that's a CB sockpuppet? Edit: I idly googled the user name and found a matching Twitter profile tha...

Re: Local Social
How about Thursday 29 August or Thursday 5 September? If we build it, they will come!!! Suzie I can't actually do either of those, on account of not being in London those days - or for most of those weeks, due to work/holiday. But if the majority can make it, go ahead! Someone has to pick a date so...

I'm up for this too, assuming we can find a date I can do! (Work/holiday around that time make it a bit more complicated)

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
Update from Twitter - SE23life CB: "I’m taking a break from Twitter for a while. I made many friends in SE23, but also picked up some enemies (eg by banning one or two abusive members of (link: http://SE23.life) SE23.life). Some of those enemies became obsessive and built a lynch mob fueled by ...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
Those are good points. I think CB has a rather varied approach to privacy - his own Facebook profile is fairly open and linked to the SE23.life page, and yet Nicola's mention of its content sparked the accusation of "cyber-stalking". That's before taking into account the fact that he's sha...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
What I would say is, if I received such contact, and was honestly in a cold sweat, and worried for my family. I would not share the exact same information, un-redacted on every social media platform. The reaction to receiving this information speaks volumes about the man, and his intentions and des...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
Nicola's tweets are making interesting reading (for those of us who can view this private account). https://twitter.com/NicDeLaMitch More sockpuppets than a branch of M&S! This must all have been very time-consuming - how does he have the energy?! I maintain more than one Twitter account (two f...

Re: Knighton Park Road
It would appear that all the flats have been dedicated to "social housing"... hence balconies festooned with hanging clothes and various items of rubbish. (Not that this is typical of all residents of social housing). The two terraced houses have not sold or been let. I work next to a new...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
Yep, and when I suggested I'd lost trust I got what I felt was quite an aggressive reply. As if CB was forced into his actions, as opposed to choosing to behave like that

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum
Agreed. Fake Twitter ID is one thing, and if what he says is true then it's understandable, but all the selected follows then promoting it all over the .life site to give it credence makes it look much more like a calculated move.
