Lawrie Park Road/Westwood Hill

I lived on Westwood Hill for 14 years, and the sound of traffic at night often sounded like Le Mans. Motorbikes love the run downhill, and must be doing something in the region of 60mph, when its late, and there isnt much traffic about. I also lived opposite the bus stop, near Charleville, and the s...

Big Black Cat ?

Listening to Xfm this morning, there was a news item about a black cat 'the size of a labrador' which has been spotted twice in Sydenham. One man was actually scratched by it, apparantly. Anyone else seen it ? >>>>>> Admin's comment - Adam has done a splendid report here: http://forum.sydenham.org.u...

The Railway

We used to call it the 'Pick a Window', as that was what you had to do, before being thrown through it. Not been in for years, as it doesnt look too inviting. Most of the pubs in Sydenham seem to have beer prices in the window, as they are obviously all after the same trade. Personally, I would happ...

Am I right in saying that there is not one Cinema in the whole of the Borough of Lewisham ? I know Beckenham isnt too far away, but if it is true, then it is a sad indictment on Lewisham. As an aside, NatWest could show films in the Sydenham branch; I could have watched the whole of Gone With the Wi...
