I would say that the best pub is in Forest Hill - the Dartmouth Arms... if you're travelling from Croydon it's just to the left of the station. Two bars (one of which is non-smoking) and a restaurant - with special offers throughout March!

On the noticeboard in Well Being in the high street there is an advert for yoga in pregnancy classes - one at Holy Trinity Church in Lennard Rd and the other in Penge I think. Sorry, did not have a pen so could not take down details!

West Norwood is also on the line to Victoria - two trains an hour, takes about 15 minutes!

Sydenham Town is far and away the best - much more exciting, great content, easy to navigate - and striking design. It deserves to win!

Good parks: Crystal Palace and Wells Park - which has a lovely cafe - great on a sunny day! Good places to eat: Ghurkas and the Turkish restaurant (next to the Golden Lion); Zucker's cafe opp LA Fitness on Kirkdale - which is also child friendly (someone else asked about that!). A bit further afield...

Fresh and Fruity on the high street is brilliant - and the people are lovely too! Mr Boston the Butcher on Perry Hill is fantastic - organic chicken, meat from named farms etc. The Turkish shop on the bridge near Cobbs Corner is also good for fruit, veg and big bunches of herbs - as is the Mediterra...

The kinds of business that Kster identifies as being part of a 21st-century successful high street (bars, boutiques etc) are more than likely to beat a hasty retreat from Sydenham in its current state - from the pathetic Cobbs Corner roundabout to the uneven, chewing gum-stained pavements and batter...

Is the Grace House part of Sydenham Avenue in LB Lewisham or Bromley? If someone could let me know that - and the street number of the development - I could try and find out what's happening there.
