Bonfires
One of my neighbours has decided to celebrate the bank holiday by burning garden waste in his garden. The result is an unpleasant smoky atmosphere, problems breathing and at least one irate neighbour! Lewisham council website states that domestic bonfires are not prohibited, but it urges people not ...

Don't know if it's related, but bell green appears to be closed to traffic - police are directing cars round a diversion.

Re: Cobbs 3AM
I despair when I see on this site "why aren't the police doing something about it?". And it appears frequently. I despair for two reasons. First, often the issue is nothing to do with police at all. Noise, parking and nightclub licencing are all the council's responsibility. Not the police...

Re: Gone - La Bonne? (Bakery)
I'm so glad it's open again! Went in this morning for our usual chocolate and almond pastries, and was talked into an extra sweet chocolate and orange bread - which was delicious. I'd really recommend that people try it!

I'd come, but I'm afraid I might be the only Lady. Does the Dolphin serve sweet sherry? I was thinking of coming if that makes any difference? ;-) On the other issue, it's not unusual for forum admin and mods to have personal accounts separate from their official one; it allows them to express opin...

I have no problem using the forum with my android phone - I just have a bookmark to it on my home page rather than an app.

Re: Tesco Coming to Sydenham Road
It's open from 7am to 11pm. it's convenient and it's close. I occasionally try to use the kirkdale costcutter as an alternative when I'm coming home late, but the food always seems of a poorer quality, the sell by dates suspiciously close and the fresh food non-existent. I work long hours and I'm ne...

I have one. But there's no way I'm allowing it to be used in the current hysterical witch-hunt against foxes. They have as much right to be here as we do.

Re: Where have all the poster's gone?
Exactly. The way this thread has gone is a perfect example of why I usually don't bother posting. I have better things to do that get involved in pointless circular arguments about public sector pensions, benefit recipients or even housing policy. Where are the threads about local issues: the closur...

Re: 5 year anniversary
I bought my first place here in June 2011.
Before that, I was going round London anti-clockwise, renting in Fulham, then Clapham and then Camberwell.
Before that, Almeria in Spain for nearly 9 years. And before that, Northamptonshire.

Re: Overground from canada water
Thank you - that's brilliant! It just seems common sense to have something like WC - CJ - CP - NC or some other combination where CP and WC are not consecutive. At the moment I think it's NC, CJ, WC, CP. The WC train is always packed and the CP one underutilised. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http...

Overground from canada water
Why, oh why, have tfl in all their wisdom, decided to schedule the trains from canada water so that the two that run down the busiest part (new x gate, brockley, hop, fh and sydders) run consecutively?!?

Re: "so people build c--p.”
Agh, I hadn't realised that Lee's link was to the positive money drivel. It's a really simplistic way of looking at a very complex problem. And assumes, incorrectly, that taking away the banks' ability to leverage deposits and capital via the multiplier effect (in essence, to lend out more than you ...

Re: 255-269 Sydenham Road to be demolished
What happened in the end with parking provision? Did the original plans (to include no parking at all) get approved?
Controversially, I'm not sure whether the original facade is of sufficient aesthetic value to justify retaining it - it's not particularly attractive, is it?
