Re: Cycling on Sydenham's pavements

13.30 Just witnessed a hoodie yoof roller-blading down the middle of Dartmouth Road from Kirkdale to Forest Hill. Several cars beeped their horns and swerved to avoid him. If i was a driver at that time,.........who knows what might have happened

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

I am in favour of transparency over how the decision-making process was achieved. I would like full disclosure, but doubt this would ever happen. I would also be interested in why Millford Homes sold the site on (shortly after the Greyhound failed to burn down), and what the relationship between Mil...

Re: Cycling on Sydenham's pavements

Cyclists on pavements is a particular bug-bear of mine. It's not the fact they are there, but also their selfish/inconsiderate/aggressive behaviour, which is detrimental to the pedestrians well-being (which is the whole point of having pavements!!) putting things into some sort of context, I am a 42...

sydenham hill historical walk No.3

After the success of the previous 2 outings, Steve Grindlay has kindly offered to do a third walk this summer. The walk last between 90minutes and 120 minutes and we can even incorporate a stop for coffee/bacon rolls/cakes/juice en-route. Topics include : Pisarro, The Kings Speach and the Crystal Pa...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

And the thing is,..this was planned long in advance by Purelake. Foundation design is an exact science. You can't just chuck an extension on a building without knowing the loads that are going to be applied to the foundations. If i was an unscrupulous developer and wanted to maximise a former Public...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

And Lewishams reply to any email will be something like this " Rebuilding of the Greyhound Public House (with retention of the front elevation) at 309-315 Kirkdale SE26 to provide a pub/restaurant (Use Class A3 / A4) in the basement and ground floor, and change of use of the upper floors to acc...

Re: Sydenham Hill Woods Sunday cafe

just to be absolutely clear : it is on the Dulwich Estate side, close to the car park and scouts hut. - So you actually have to walk out of the woods and turn to your right and its 100 yards away, just inside Gunsite allotments. They hope to put better signage up on the woods gates and entrances , s...

Sydenham Hill Woods Sunday cafe

As a regular dogwalker in Sydenham Hill Woods, I was amazed to find a quirky little cafe in adjacent Gunsite allotments. At the moment it only operates on Sundays from 9am - 2pm I don't have a map of the woods that i can use, but it is on the Dulwich Estate side, close to the car park and scouts hut...

Re: Antic pubs have withdrawn from the Greyhound

The soil will have undergone investigation already so that they could calculate a new foundation depth.
These foundations will already be in place.

There is no guesswork about seeing if the new foundations are suitable. They can just crack-on re-building

i thought the debate was good, until The Duke started making unsubstantiated claims about the development proposal and about DTH.

Totally undermined her argument

Re: Kirkdale Village Pub Quiz...Bricklayers Arms

No need to stress. I have a few neighbours coming along (6 ATM), but we can always split/merge teams to incorporate individuals.
Just get there a few minutes early so we can arrange teams. :D

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

But, if i may. There are a handful of people contributing to this thread. It's kind of comforting that people with opposed veiws can reach some sort of agreement. However, there are many hundreds, and probably thousands of local residents, who hold different opinions, and there is no concesus betwee...

Re: Houses built in Crystal palace park?

If the powers that be want wide spread support for their Masterplan then it is time they listened to the community. The GLA currently has funding available for CPP - it's about £8m. Now why not modify the MP? Ditch the housing element and scrap digging up car parks to relocate elsewhere. Forget abo...
