Hmm. Like fishcox says, it is a bit like sodomites.. but we have nothing to be ashamed of so lets be Sydenhamites and proud! The fact that its hard to pronounce should keep the riff-raff at bay anyway!!!!!!!

Knighton

I think your plans sound great. The current layout of the area is a mish mash of box junctions and craziness.

South is better. And I should know, I was born and bred in North London so really I am a traitor.
Anyone else doing the North v South Run London 10k? I'll be running for South London so see you there and hopefully prove we're best.

claireclaire Seems like you've had bad plasterers twice over. If you want to get it fixed - I have used a guy called Adam 07956 908 910 and he did an excellent job. Some other sydenham friends used him twice and he has done an excellent job both times. There was a thread about recommended plasterers...

I love 'Gurkas' Indian and Nepalese restaurant on Sydenham High st. Its in my top 3 of best Indian restaurants ever. I also love 'That's Amore' Italian restaurant on Kirkdale. Mmm, I'm feeling hungry now...

Randomv you definately made a good move. Unless you are really unlucky there is no way you will regret it. I was born and bred in North London but after living south for 8 years or so I would never move back up north even if I won the lottery. I encouraged some friends to move to sydenham about year...

Yeah I agree, its is strange. Maybe because I live near the top of the hill I can just hear the sirens more clearly. Mind you, I'm not complaining if there are more police – hopefully it means all the criminals will be busy elsewhere. Come to think of it my neighbours in East Dulwich were burgled th...

I moved to Sydenham recently from just down the road in East Dulwich and though I live in a quiet part of Sydenham I can tell you that there are alot more sirens to be heard round here. Sydenham is crawling with police, so its probably them. The ambulance service probably do not abuse their sirens. ...

I have just been reading a couple of books on the history of Sydenham, one of which is of old photos of the area. The section on Wells Park road and its offshoots is indeed a horror story, so many lovely old houses were swept away by the council, as you said, and communities were pretty much destroy...

Hi Falkor, I love your pictures by the way, thanks for putting them on. I can't agree with you about Wells Park though. I don't know what it was like in the 70's cos I've only lived here a few months but the park is the main reason why I moved here! I think it is a really well kept and beautiful. So...

When you see someone drop some litter, the thing to do is go 'oh excuse me, you dropped something." Then pick it up and hand it to them. This works a treat (ok, I only tried it once when I was feeling really brave). The person in question actually took the piece of rubbish from me, said 'thanks...

I think Knighton's beef is that he/she never actually criticised SamC's spelling at all. He/she criticised their comprehension of english not their execution of English. Which is a different thing altogether. But I agree-kiss and make-up anyhow.
