Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

Here's a bit of lateral thinking for all those determined to knock them down - why shouldn't they give the area an identity in a similar way to the transmitter tower in Crystal Palace? I bet many people thought that was an eyesore when it was built, but now it's become a visual icon & everyone l...

Re: Bell Green Gasometers – A Compromise

I don't see the point, demolish them & re-erect token bits in a different place? Seems like a bad compromise to me, keep them where they are or if we don't appreciate or value them enough as structures, just remove them altogether. And call the housing Gasholder Court or something, with maybe a ...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

I thought they'd been 'saved' - what was that campaign all about last year?

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

They have actually cordoned off the ‘extension’ restaurant area inside so the pub isn’t the same amount of floor space it was weeks ago, maybe they’re finally putting the windows in. I hadn't realised that, they hadn't cordoned it off when I popped in on Saturday. It'll be great when they put the w...

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?

once the conservatory is completed, the interior space will be more than ample. you do realise the 'conservatory' (really just an extension to the main room) is there already, and just needs windows putting in? So there won't actually be more interior space. My main thoughts are - good selection of...

Re: Going over old ground - The Hound that is Grey

Walking past on my way to the station this morning I noticed that at last there may be some building work going on - at any rate the gates were open and I saw a guy inside carrying a large plank!
