Re: Who supports Sydenham's Independent traders?
What sort of things do this 'Sydenham Society' do to prevent progress? And why (do you think) are they motivated to do this? I'm not questioning you - just interested. Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS
I agree re Subway. Its a bit like Nailbars. Not my cup of tea but provides a service for people, might bring people who might use other shops as well, clean, doesn't look too bad, better than an empty outlet!
Re: Butt.....
So its not smoking that is the issue but a societal attitude to litter! Look at the mess the hard working street cleaners are on to every morning! [my bold] It's exactly that. Cig ends, sweet wrappers, cans/bottles, newspapers, dead umbrellas etc don't exactly drop themselves. It's sheer laziness t...

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS
Mosy Nail parlours. That is strange. I would have thought any able bodied person would be able to cut ones own nails with no problem.... It is obvious that Nail bars are about a lot more than cutting one's nails! Nail art is a harmless fashion that gives a RANGE of people pleasure!! . It fills a re...

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS
The point of a High Street worth visiting is that it meets the needs of people living / shopping there in a way that looks pleasant enough to go to, not off putting. A tattoo shop can look fine even if I might not choose to go there. As can a cafe, an aquatics shop, a nail bar, a fish shop, a ....et...
Re: Butt.....
Maybe just do what the Pavilion does which was the start of this thread!
Re: Butt.....
To some extent I agree with you, but the opportunity to discuss with a business how to improve things for customers, seems shame to pass up

Re: NEW OPENINGS, NEW CLOSINGS
Nice places to eat and drink do make a high street better ...and so do some nice shops like Billings, Health Shop, Fresh and Fruity, Polish /Spanish Deli, Slatters as was and even the Coop, in terms of convenience. There was a lovely shop selling painted old furniture in a SEE shop by the station fo...

Re: New Aquatics Shop?
I agree Rachael, the majority are positive and constructive. The other areas mentioned eg famine for discussion are obviously important but THIS one was about general areas relevant to Sydenham high street, making it work, providing the right services (including specialist aquatics) , making it attr...
