Instead of rubbernecking, why don't you go and ask the attending officers what's happened before coming online and causing avoidable panic to those who read your OP and live in that particular part of Sydenham.Anyone know what's occuring?

Re: Save Sydenham Library campaign launch today
With a little creative moulding and persuasion, that rather generic quote could be applied to any societal asset. Whether it's under threat or not, Lee.
But that's not to say it's a bad thing either.

Re: Lost bank card SE26 Kirkdale/Willow Way/Dartmouth Rd
I've seen this kind of thing on other forums and it never ceases to amaze me how much misplaced faith is put on the internet. AroundOurWayNow, call me a cynic, but like with any other replacable items such as sunglasses, stuffed toys and umbrellas, you'll more than likely never see your bank card ag...

Though not a great contributor to this corner of the forum, I know I speak for everyone when I say we're really looking forward to seeing the completed model. A couple of pictures, perhaps.
Until then, I hope this link helps towards your project:

Re: North Kirkdale area 20mph zone
Without trying to patronise anyone, I grew up on Derby Hill Cresent. So I think I'm one of the better qualified to write on the matter. This is probably one of the more bizarre proposals put forward by Lewisham council. And I'd be even more surprised if our local MP's didn't concur. As there are alr...

Re: The Sydenham Pound?
Well, as long as you can snort a line of coke through it, I'm sure the natives of Brixton will welcome this funny money with open arms.
I, on the otherhand, think it's embarrassing.

Re: SAVE SYDENHAM LIBRARY
Isn't it incumbent on protesters to say where they would prefer the savings to be made? That's a good point, Robin. But I think it's one that's best left in an ideal world. Mainly because the current media frenzy over any cuts has distracted a large number of the public from constructive thinking, ...

Re: The Sydenham Pound?
Aside from the issues focusing on practicality, local interest and cost, I'm just not convinced that a 'currency' that looks like it's printed by the Bank of Toyland would instill any confidence in customers and traders alike.
No, like the rest of the country, I'll just make do with Sterling.

Re: SAVE SYDENHAM LIBRARY
Also libraries used to have a policy of little noise , which seems to have gone out of the window. They even allow people to waffle on their Mobiles. Quite right, Eagle. Quite right. I've lost track of how many times I've stated in similar discussions that libraries should be a quiet sanctuary for ...

No, like with any stupid poorly planned gimmick, its creators are just hoping that everyone forgets about their folly.I take it the Brixton pound is still going?

I suspect actually the other posters may be connected, not I. I can only speak for myself when I say that your suspicion doesn't apply to myself. I'm in no way connected to or have an interest in the (supposedly) 'offending' establishment. I'm a construction and demolition engineer and I'd never ev...

Re: Street drinking in Lewisham consultation
Do you want it? - well, do you want police officer's arresting alcoholics for drinking or would you like them to turn up when your burgled/mugged/assaulted? Bensonby, I'm sure you're fully aware that we'd rather the MET's resouces were focused on arresting and convicting violent criminals. But then...

I can't see another grotty grease merchant threatening the profit margins of the businesses you've listed, Simon. Just the local cholesterol levels. All joking aside. If this latest addition turns out to be another bleedin' poultry parlour, which I strongly suspect it will, then where does it stop? ...

Re: Which one of you is "darcy" on the east Dulwich forum?
when the economic tide is fully out ( and its going out fast) these people are going to find themselves beached hard on the reality of negative equatiy in a dense, uninspiring ,under connected part of town. We need to show them compassion and pity , not enmity. Quite right, SP. Quite right. And you...
