Re: New Builds on Sydenham High Street
The original owners were registered in Guernsey. The site was bought out and is being developed by a UK company - Zanara.

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
The gasholders have been locally listed by Lewisham, which acknowledges their importance to the heritage setting of the Livesey Hall and the other grade 2 structures. It is not unknown for housing to be built inside gasholders - examples immediately come to mind are at Kings Cross and in Dublin. The...

Re: Say 'No' to further retail at Bell Green
Reasons given were (my words - we will have to wait till the refusal letter is sent out): 1) Diminution of an important Heritage Asset site which contains 3 Grade 2 listed 'buildings' (Livesey Hall, the War Memorial and the brick wall fronting Perry Hill), if the gasholders were demolished to be rep...

Re: Fig and Pistachio closing
The state of Kirkdale on one side of the street, as we see it today, is down to some pretty poor planning decisions over a number of years. Let's hope there is strong enforcement on this occasion otherwise it will be a green light to other rogue 'developers' in this area..

Re: Sydenham wish list
It does depend on which part of Kirkdale you live, Appletree, but the 202 bus which is quite frequent goes from Kirkdale (bus stop at the bottom of Wells Park Road or in Kirkdale, just beyond Peak Hill) directly to Lower Sydenham and beyond. In Sydenham Road, Slatters is a long established bakers an...

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I would just to put matters straight as the Sydenham Society seems to have been called out as a major objector. On 25 April 2017, soon after the planning application was submitted, I, as a member of the Conservation and Planning Committee, and on behalf of the Sydenham Society, following discussion ...

It would appear we are still awaiting an unconditional permission. Attached to the permission is a clause (as I read it): (a) No development approved under this permission shall commence until details of the following works to the highway (including drawings and specifications) have been submitted t...

Try Lewisham's website - Environment. I'm pretty certain they deal with dead animals.

Re: Site next to Sainsbury's Local - Previously Sydenham Bed
Originally this unit was designated A1 (retail) and A3 (restaurant) and marketed as such. However, there was no interest. KFH came along and an application for A2 (office) was made and agreed after discussion. So, unfortunately, this unit is unlikely to become a restaurant/bar, much as I agree that ...

Re: Fix my Street
Great service from Lewisham's fly-posting team. I gather they were in the high street on Friday and removed most of the offending Botton's posters, having first taken photographs. Several bags full! Hopefully, some sort of legal action will be taken. The few remaining posters were removed by local r...

Re: Fix my Street
I just asked a question out of pure interest, Prince. I was trying to raise awareness about fixmystreet.com which we can all use as a way of raising awareness in order to alert Lewisham Council's Environment Team of local offences. Like you, I have taken action and removed various posters and report...

Fix my Street
Out of pure interest. Has anyone else reported the 'blatant fly-posting' by Botton's Family Funfair paid agents up and down the high street.? Has anyone who wants improvements to the high street seen this and reported to fixmystreets.com or directly to Lewisham's Environmental team? Anywhere their p...

Re: The Sydenham Society
Yes, Pally, I am inclined to say "put up or shut up"! I'm far too busy dealing with present matters (both local and others outside Sydenham) to start trawling through back dated copies of the Sydenham Society News in the way that you suggest. If you are that interested I suggest you, and a...

Pally, you and anyone else can access information about what the Sydenham Society has done over the years. On Sydenham Society's website are published the on-line copies of our quarterly newsletters back to Spring 2009. Quarterly newsletters have been published since the mid-70's and delivered to al...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I didn't claim the Sydenham Society single-handedly got the number of units reduced at Cobbs Court and I can state quite categorically that at no stage did we appear to support the original plans. The fact that local residents were also objecting strengthened the arguments against the proposals. In ...

Thank you to everybody who has read my lament and thanks for the positive responses. The Sydenham Society
I've been away for the weekend and on my return it's disappointing to see such critical comments of the Sydenham Society on a local forum. . As a member since 1974, and as Chair of the Sydenham Society from 1994 - 2008, I am very aware of what the Sydenham Society has been involved with locally over...

Re: Starts tonight! Three Men in a Boat at the Sydenham Cent
Don't think this topic should be allowed to disappear beneath the horizon yet! Saw Three Men in a Boat, not to mention the animated dog, Montmorency, last night - very imaginative, and great fun with a good appreciative audience. On tonight and next week - Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and one day ...
