Re: Sydenham Road improvement scheme - feedback

Please find the link to the results of the 957 'feedback forms' submitted by the 5th of December to the exhibition at 59 Sydenham Road. Hmmmm ... mine does not seem to have been included! Why cut off on the 5th when they were still asking for consultation comments on the 12th? Recount please! Stuart

Except that performance related implies how well the Council's objectives are being met - not ours! There may be a very big difference. It comes down to accountability. This and the previous TCM have none to us, but everything to them. So do you favour, as Kent, to have high flying drones watching u...

Ben - this has been debated many times before. The problem with keeping our streets clean is the responsibility of Environmental Services - not Julie. She, SydSoc and half the population nag Environmental and sometimes with a result. But, sadly, their best is always exceeded by people in dumping mor...

So it might be legal to be drunk on a LOROL platform but become illegal when I step/fall into a Southern carriage?

I particulary resent the annual unsolicited income tax return from the Infernal Revenue. Tax is deducted at source so this pointless exercise results in us exchanging cheques for less than a tenner despite costing more time and money on each side. But like all spammers - once on their list it appear...

My problem was the water outflow from the condensing boiler had frozen (it goes to an outside drain). This caused a backup and the boiler had closed itself down. One hot kettleworth de-iced the problem and warmth returned. Thanks to the local Sydenham service engineer who gave me the tip. Saved a ca...

Conservativley, a decent parade of shops nearby can add 14% to your house value. A poor one (as in our case) can knock anything up to 20% OFF the value.... On the other hand it was, perhaps, the shops that made Sydenham affordable for us and why we are here. No where else at these prices has so man...

Gas Supply

With exquisite timing the gas boiler has gone on the blink. The fault suggests low gas pressure so it may be the supply rather than the boiler.

Anybody else having problems?

Rail journey time 45 mins. Normally faster by train/bus in 28 minutes.
See journey planner at http://www.tfl.gov.uk

Has the benefit of leaving you handsfree to look after the kid.

Subway is a fast food franchise that primarily sells submarine sandwiches, salads and personal pizzas ... People do eat them on the subway - or tube as some people confusingly call it.

At no point can one infer from my post that there was an intimation of JS Chicken being somewhat lacking in basic hygene... Ironically I wouldn't wait for a delivery when there is even a smattering of snow about. If Halfords have any they will be gone. Experience from the last major snowfall in Crystal Palace Park is that an ordinary plastic tray (bigger the better) gives a fast and suitably uncontrolled descent. For tho...

salmonella vendors? This is a very serious insinuation against this (ex-)business. Do you have evidence they were closed because of this and are going to be prosecuted or are you making it up? Remember even high-class eating joints can have health issues: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/berkshir...

Christmas Wreaths? Isn't it about birth and happiness not death mourning? Well no, even Wikipedia is a bit vague on the subject. Looks to be pre-christian in origin, as is most of Christmas, and related to the leaves Julius Ceasar wore, except a bit bigger and on a door not a head. So exactly how di...

Dunno about Silverdale but there was a very active Neighbourhood (Narborhood) Watch here in Lawrie Park in 1985 run by the redoubtable Norman McCann. I know that because he spotted us suspiciously entering our new home for the first time with the rozzers rolling up a few minutes later to check our c...
