Crash on Westwood Hill
Here's a report from the Newsshopper except it is mistaken that the collision appeared to be on Westwood Hill not Lawrie Park Road. The photograph is mine taken at 1pm after our 450 bus was diverted because the section between the Kirkdale Roundabout and LPA was taped off both ways.: A woman has bee...

Re: Bell Green Cycle Crossing
Or people with respiratory issues or just want a longer life? Heroes for criminal damage and defying a decision by the democratically elected mayor? If you don't like that you can vote in May to have ULEZ removed. No, it's just gratuitous vandalism spurred on by culture war warriors. Sorry for the r...

Re: Chaos at Crystal Palace Park Road roadworks
It was moved! The power of this forum or just coincidence the day after the post after all these weeks? Great news for the 197 & 176 buses and everybody else at that junction. Hence I won't complain too much about exceeding the permitted pavement parking. Oh but from Friday the 197, 176 & 12...

Chaos at Crystal Palace Park Road roadworks
Update on the 5 month roadwork chaos on Crystal Palace Park Road outside the telephone exchange. Notice was given well before Christmas but this Range Rover LN54 OTW has remained parked in a no parking coned area for the duration. It hasn't moved or been moved. The chaos and frequent gridlock this s...

Re: Bell Green Cycle Crossing
Sydenham Road at Bell Green and Kent House Road junctions have been hit overnight by the ULEZ vandals. They moved on from cutting wires or blowing them up to simply angle grind the base of the post. So good luck if you want to cross the road by foot or bike. And guess who has to pay in chaos and cou...

Re: Bell Green Cycle Crossing
The Newshopper has more on the proposed Lewisham cycling projects including: "The proposed schemes also include 18 contraflow cycle projects, where cyclists go in the opposite direction of traffic, and the replacement of the Waterlink Way footbridge in Catford. The projects are dependent on the...

Bell Green Cycle Crossing
The South London Press has a report that Lewisham Council is including Sydenham's dangerous cycle crossing of Southend Lane to Riverlink way as part of eleven cycle highways in the borough: "A crossing in Pagnell Street in New Cross would be upgraded to a parallel zebra crossing – a type of zeb...

Damien Egan Mayor of Lewisham has today, Wednesday 10 January, resigned as the Mayor of Lewisham. Mr Egan said: “On Friday the current MP for Kingswood, resigned. Re: Broken window theory
Thought this was yet more roadworks until I looked a little closer. No hole. It would appear some local flytipper has gifted Lawrie Park Gardens this present for Christmas. Lewisham Council Taxpayers will have to pay to get it carted away. https://social.brainsys.com/system/media_attachments/files/1...

Christmas in Lewisham's Lapland
No prizes for guessing which Sainsbury store this year's Christmas ad was filmed in. And customers will know it's rarely that busy - more extras than customers methinks

Lidl Cycling
Lidl this week submitted a transport plan addendum to their Southend Lane redevelopment to Lewisham Council. It has very laudable plans to accommodate anyone cycling to their new store, viz: High -quality cycle parking will be provided at convenient and visible locations within the site and uptake w...

Re: Overground to London Bridge?
I suppose anything is an improvement but it is, to me, a second/third class solution. 1. The comfort/capacity of those beautiful 8/10 car Electostars against the 5 car Overground. 2. The inability to connect to Southern's hub at East Croydon for disabled people or safely for those with heavy luggage...

Beautiful Bell Green. That's a first here I think
Yes I've enjoyed other @archoptical drone footage. I had assumed that as it was on your website it was yours and ok to use. Is it OK with @archoptical to use it to promote your Forum?

Put it on Mastodon for you: https://social.brainsys.com/@se26/111243923906884838 and I've completed it. Fascinating aerial shot of the eastend of the gyratory where it intersects with Southend Lane, Kangley Bridge Road and the Sainsbury feeder road. Took a bit of time to identify that. Trust I got i...

Re: Consultation on Proposal to Close Silverdale/Bishopsthorpe Road to traffic
Looks like the signage is going up today, a camera has appeared on the Silverdale side recently as well. For those who have yet to pass by. One change is motorcycles are also now prohibited. But then Lewisham is having a bit of a war on the motorcyclist atm. https://social.brainsys.com/system/media...

Re: Broken window theory
Hi b_s - I've invested in a £2.99 picker-upper from the Sydenham Road Bargain Shop. Doesn't look too robust but it helped me do our street today. Thanks for inspiring me. Maybe the Sydenham Assembly should give a proper one plus Lewisham bags to folks who will do their street once a week. So another...

Opoids, Sacklers & Sydenham
"In a broad, tree-lined road in the southeast London suburb of Sydenham stand the sprawling buildings and grounds of St Christopher’s Hospice." So begins the story of how Sydenham hero Cicely Saunders helped begin the development of the opoids to help her terminal patients. How the Sackler...
