Re: Any news on Mamma Dough? [opening this weekend!]

Was lucky enough to be @mamma_dough’s soft launch for their 5th branch in #Sydenham. Lovely setting, great staff, amazing olives, garlic bread, pizzas, salads, desserts, booze and coffee. Not confirmed but plan is to open from this weekend Fri-Sun 12-10 and weekdays 4 or 5-10! (Ps: Apologies for the...

SE26 Enterprise meeting (for entrepreneurs and independent business owners)

Please see the image for a new meet-up group starting this Friday afternoon in Ignition Brewery’s space. Email the contact/organiser for any further questions. (for clarity I am neither an entrepreneur, business owner or have any affiliation with this new meet-up for Sydenham!) https://sydenham.org....

Re: Better to order direct from local takeways...

I think I mentioned something vaguely along these lines last year - most takeaways offer 10% discount if you pick up and many offer their own delivery service. Both of these costs I assume outweigh any cut taken by the big delivery companies so if possible I think eating in, picking up or ordering d...

Re: Ignition brewery February community and special events

I’ve politely asked Nick/Ignition to be a presence on here himself but in the meantime both with Ignition and any other local events I’ll put them on here for everyone’s knowledge

Re: Current state of the property market in Sydenham

Not sure if helpful to anyone here but seeing this I thought was quite timely so thought would chuck it on here. Make of the article what you will but SE26 is reportedly one of the area’s “bucking the trend” and is still “hot” in comparison to the vast majority of London (although not mentioned in t...

Re: Any news on Mamma Dough?

Had dinner at their HOP location last night - quick friendly service and delicious pizza in my opinion (and I assume others as they won best pizza in Brixton at some food awards and there are quite a few high end/“authentic” pizza places) so can’t ask for too much more. Hope the standard continues i...

Re: Ignition brewery February community and special events

Just thought would pop on an award they have just recieved :) Deserved if you ask me for the general ethos of the business and bringing something new to the high street whilst continuing to support the Sydenham Centre and it’s community based activities/events. Brill stuff. https://se26.life/uploads...

Re: Bell Green - A New Plan, January 2019

The ideas off the top of my head mostly consisted of things that apply to all areas (crossings, lighting, green spaces, the shopfronts - My bad as I shouldn’t have put “high street” as I meant all the shops down to Bell green inc opposite the library etc. ) and were just that - off the top of my hea...

Re: Bell Green - A New Plan, January 2019

Huh, I wrote a far too long post which didn’t post/work. The long and short of it was - I’m banging the same ol’ drum in the hope that an influential member of the community or attends meetings/is close with those involved take on board my basic point/premise. The Sydenham Society and others put a l...

Re: Sydenham under a new flight path?

I’m between Sydenham and Penge East stations and not recieved anything through the letterbox. I hear them everynow and then but can’t say I’ve noticed a large change of any in the last year or two and I thought (maybe incorrectly) that it was due to the wind for increased planes over certain areas b...

Re: kinleigh folkard & hayward

Not that I have any use for it or go over the bridge too regularly but every time I do I wonder what’s happening with this. Obviously it looks a lot better than the grey chipboard hoardings but it would look even better/functionally bring people work etc if it was open! Last thing I heard - straight...

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site

If we are talking supermarkets I’d welcome any of the suggestions/rumours really. Iceland aren’t just the frozen products of old and have not only improved ranges of fresh/non frozen food but are extremely ecologically minded with promises to reduce/rid palm oil, plastic packaging etc and recently i...

Just a little update. The studio (dragonfly yoga) have told me they are currently hoping to be open around the end of February. Class passes/membership for the Sydenham location will not be available until towards the time of opening.

Re: Funds needed for Sydenham Library Roof

Although not affiliated with the library and don’t use it regularly (perhaps I should do!) just want to say thanks for the response. Since I put this up on Twitter/forums there has been 15 more online donations and they are closer to the goal (£190 to go in 4 days). Spread the word to those who may ...
