Re: food waste collection
Has your food waste bin been collected though? Ours hasn’t for the 2nd week. I will check with my neighbours to see if theirs was taken today although it hadn’t been last week.

Re: Waste Collection
Well our food waste wasn't collected which was really annoying. I had followed the council's instructions to the letter! I emailed the address I had which came back with an instruction to inform them via a form on the website which then wouldn't load. I chatted with one of my neighbours and it seems...

Is everyone ready for the new collection schedule?
Re: Aldi
Right now I think I am at the stage of anything is better than nothing. I wouldn't mind an Aldi or a Waitrose or M&S simy food for that matter. I've had it in my head they'll be building flats on the site but not sure where I got the thought from; probably because flats are springing up everywhe...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?
I hope that the new Greyhound thrives when it opens after all the talk on this forum! BTW the ... Firkin was "Fewterer and Firkin" with, I seem to remember, the word fewterer being something to do with greyhounds. Whoever mentioned it has taken me right back to the 90s and my much younger ...

Cat knocked down Sunnydene Street
Wednesday, 30/09/17 aprox 8pm Very sadly there is a dead cat that has clearly been run down. A group of us, independently of one another, came across the cat in the road. We are unsure what the protocol is for dealing with dead animals but thought we would try the forum to see if anyone knows it. So...

This is such a lovely thread. I have nothing to contribute other than reading others' memories is making me smile and remember my own childhood which was not around here though.

Re: Lewisham wide 20mph roads
@ Eagle I know there is research to show that if people are hit at 20mph there is a higher survival rate etc. If there had been dozens of pedestrians knocked over and hurt/injured on the roads I would understand it but there hasn't been. I am not against targeted speed reductions at particularly dan...

Re: Lewisham wide 20mph roads
Really interesting replies, thanks. Having just re read my post I am surprised there weren't any quips about me being a "toad" user!

Lewisham wide 20mph roads
Are any other drivers out there struggling with the new 20mph roads? It seems that most roads are now 20mph although some aren't so one of the issues I have is the confusion. I try really hard to stick to the speed limits on any toad I use but going at 20mph on main roads is extremely hard, especial...

Re: car boot sales
I went to one a few years ago near the Downham Homebase. I can't remember the name but it was a football club. It was probably 4 years or so.

Well, I haven't heard back from the council but the Sydenham newsletter for Summer 2016 has been delivered today and there is some information in there about recycling.

Re: Refuse Collection
Well, reporting concerns to the Council is not as easy as it used to be. I emailed envirocall as I have done in the past to get a reply saying I have to log the concern on the relevant form. I have done that so we will see. I also should have pointed out to them how ambiguous their recycling informa...

Re: Refuse Collection
@ Rachael: Our bin has always said "no textiles" so you didn't misinterpret what I wrote. It's about 12 yrs old by the way. I don't doubt that yours allowed textiles. Our recycle bin was not emptied once, just left with a tag label tied on saying "contaminated". It scared me a b...

Re: Refuse Collection
Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't know about the changes to the green bin accepted items. I've signed up for the brown bin garden waste collections. Bin day today. Fingers crossed my smelly grey wheelie bin gets emptied, not just the recycling one!

Refuse Collection
I am just wondering if anyone else completed the survey about refuse and recycling carried out by Lewisham Council at some point in 2015. If so, any idea of the outcomes? I wonder if the garden waste collection is part of it in response to comments. I am also wondering if they are going to reduce ot...
