Re: Lewisham and West Penge candidates
And I'm sorry about Alex Feakes, too. As local politicians go, he struck me as reasonably good.

Re: Lewisham and West Penge candidates
Depressed by both local and national vote. Well done to Tom, I had a feeling the Lib Dems would be demonised (as they have by the press) by the electorate, but not to this extent. I think Alex deserved better, especially locally. Looks (to me) like the national vote came for to: Ed Milliband doesn'...

Re: 176 and 197 bus on diversion?
Thanks, Pat. I didn't even know about the sewer works until the other week when I needed to get a bus up to CP. Had I known, I'd have gone Penge-wards and saved myself a lot of trouble!

176 and 197 bus on diversion?
As I attempted to go up to town on the bus this evening, I noticed a sign up Crystal Palace Park Road indicating a diversion from 8 pm this evening. It looks as though Lawrie Park Road won't be served by buses, so I'm guessing they'll go all the way up to the top and then down Westwood Hill. Is ther...

Re: Southend Lane - Lower Sydenham Bridge
This bridge still gets clouted almost every day, it's unusual for one to get reported on. A-ha. I suspected as much when I looked on Southeastern Journeycheck and noticed a distinct shortage of uncancelled trains on the further reaches of the Hayes line - despite a lack of SE actually admitting wha...

Re: Parliamentary Election Hustings
His poor record in parliament, his physical manhandling of Bob Marshal Andrews in the lobby because he had the temerity to vote against a government terrorism bill on principle, his slavish voting record when Labour were in power including his support for the Iraq war, his refusal to condem Purelak...

Re: Lewisham and West Penge candidates
Darn, I wish I'd known.
Is it usual for a Labour candidate to be interviewed by someone as openly (I'd almost say rabidly, but time may have mellowed him) Conservative as Iain Dale? If so, who are Labour providing to interview Cameron?

Re: Man taking pictures of houses on Girton Road @ 10pm
Were they flash or non-flash (if non, then I would have no idea, but if with flash I might possibly have been expected to notice something)? And could you tell whether it was a proper camera, the sort of thing that could take decent photos in low-light conditions? It does sound a bit suspicious, but...

Re: Yet another bad smash in Lawrie Park Road
[There used to be a rule of not parking within a certain distance of a junction. I've forgotten it. I guess few now learn it. No one enforces it. 15 foot? Bromley enforce it insofar as they have painted pretty excessive double yellow lines at all their junctions with Venner Road, so Byne, Wiverton ...

Re: Cameron's Property Policy is Theft
I was all in favour of RTB first time around, but that was because I blithely assumed that the money made would be ploughed back into the provision of new council housing. More fool me ...

Re: Sydenham Artisan Market - 2nd Saturday of the month
Hmm, we didn't get anything through our letterbox: are the deliveries restricted to the part of Sydenham that's in Lewisham, or something? Given that more than half of Venner Road, not to mention most of Byne and Wiverton, is in Bromley, that seems a little counterproductive.

His partner, fellow mp Janet Anderson claimed London home expenses on the home she shared with j dowd which he already claimed expenses for - or something. that may be what you're thinking of although there are other reasons, imho, that it's time he stepped down Ah, perhaps that was it, but in that...

Re: Sydenham Artisan Market - 2nd Saturday of the month
It would have been really nice to see some publicity about this: it was only yesterday evening that I suddenly realised "Hang on, wasn't it the second Saturday in the month, and wasn't the market supposed to be back in April?" I don't know how many people read this forum on a regular basis...

Re: Jim Dowd MP
To be fair, Jim Dowd did actually take part in a debate recently, in relation to the trains mess at London Bridge (or not at LB, in this particular case). However, in my early days on the forum - whether it was before or after the last general election I'm not sure, although it may have been before,...

Re: Bakerloo extension - Lower Sydenham transformed
It's ironic, isn't it? I got some sort of email communication through the other day from an estate agent in the West Wickham area already telling people to buy because of the Bakerloo extension - when there is absolutely no guarantee that it will ever get anywhere near WW, or even further south than...

McDonalds drive-in in Lower Sydenham
I was discussing drive-in takeaway restaurants with a friend the other day, and wondered how the McDonalds down by Big Sainsburys is settling in? I didn't think I'd seen anyone complaining about antisocial behaviour or anything on these boards?

Penge Easter market today (Saturday)
I walked through into Penge today to find stalls out in the grounds of St. John's Church and along the high street: there seems to be some sort of Easter market on today (might be tomorrow too, I suppose), and some of the stuff looks rather good. Our old friends the Alexandra Garden Centre are one o...

Re: council tax
I'm pretty sure I've heard that councils were likely to be reviewing their banding and how it applies to individual houses. After all, if, say, you've had an extension built since the original assessment and have perhaps added additional bedrooms, that would perhaps be reason enough to move a house ...
