Can't quite see what he's holding in his right hand. If it's a book, it could be St Paul, although he's often also depicted with a sword. St Peter is usually given a set of keys (to let us into heaven - Matthew 16.19)

Re: Anybody clap last night?

I think the nonsense about how appreciating the NHS being tainted by patriotism is yet another example of how left leaning liberals simply can't bear the notion of the UK getting anything right . I am a left-leaning liberal (most of the time) and also a proud and patriotic Englishman. I think this ...

Re: Covid-19 vaccination bookings for over 65s now open

My wife and I, both KCH patients, had a similar invitation. We ignored it as we had already had our first jabs, via our GP practice. We also had a mysterious invite from the Princess Royal Hospital at Farnborough, which I gather is run by KCH - it saluted us as 'Dear Princess Royal Hospital patient'...

Re: Anybody clap last night?

Although reality and reasonableness are unlikely to taint the the dreary Bolshevik type anti Johnson torrent... I think the point you are, for some reason, failing to appreciate, Nigel, is that Mr Johnson is a truly awful person. That is why people don't like him very much. Nothing to do with Bolsh...

In answer to Stuart's specific question, I didn't hear any clapping in my street, but didn't open my front door to check.

Re: Anybody clap last night?

Thanks for your support, Stuart. SE23.life has now sent me to the naughty step because I suggested that Captain (Colonel?) Sir Tom was being exploited by the Prime Minister for p*l*t*c*l purposes. They crack down very fiercely over there if you suggest that a particular topic may have a p*l*t*c*l di...

What a delightful fellow vbsydenham is. His posts always cheer me up. It's his cheerfulness, uncomplicated patriotism and generosity of spirit which I most admire . A credit to the public service!

Good order and discipline

I see people are getting cross with each other in the 'how to get out of this mess' thread. I am surprised Admin allowed it to stay in the 'Town Hall' from the outset. I thought the 'Town Pub' was the only place where people were allowed to argue vigorously about controversial topics, if only becaus...

Re: Wells Park practice and Covid vaccinations

It did, thanks. All very efficient - in and out in 25 minutes, including the 15 minutes wait afterwards to check for allergic reactions - but no stress. Everyone, clinical staff and volunteer stewards, very friendly and polite. Pfizer vaccine.Thank God for socialised medicine! The only thing I wasn'...

Re: Lewisham approves keeping Bridge Leisure Centre closed

My wife and I used it regularly whilst FH was being rebuilt, and I've always thought of it as 'first reserve' for if and when FH closes to have its defective roof repaired. All seems a bit unreal now.

Wells Park practice and Covid vaccinations

Although I myself am still only on the remotest verge of middle age, I hope it won't be too long before I' m invited to have a Covid vaccination. Does anyone know whether the over-80s who are, like me, registered with the Wells Park practice have been invited to be vaccinated, and, if so, where? Jen...

Re: Sticky music thread

Well, it's the big day tomorrow! Your votes for the final piece of music in this sequence have been pouring in. Lots of excitement on social media - ignore it, it's just speculation! You'll have to wait and see! Meanwhile here is the chorus from 'Messiah' that choirs dread - all those fast runs! htt...
