Re: Walk from Sydenham Hill station at night - is it safe?
No I don't. I admit this is just my instinct and preference which may well be rubbish!
Re: Debate
Surely the point here is that different sections of the forum are for different kinds of topics and different kinds of debate? If someone is being rude and inflammatory in a section about an aquatics shop then that's crazy (and that's the kind of thing that admin should be stamping on). But if we'r...

I agree coldland, regrettable as it is!!
Debate
As a pretty new member of this site I confess to finding it increasingly irritating that potentially interesting debate either about Sydenham issues (eg new Aquatics shop thread) or wider issues (eg Oh dear or George Galloway thread) is hindered because of a rapid deterioration into completely unnec...

Kente coffee is great. Young children are always made welcome but frustrating that the potential in that venue is no exploited more!

Re: Pub?
Mosy - lip reading takes time to learn (!!) as does laughing at everything because you cant hear a word, then becoming aware that someone you are supposedly having a conversation with is waiting expectantly for an answer to a question but you don't know what it is, at which point you say pardon and ...

So, are people in wine bars quieter than people in pubs? How long a thread can we create debating that point I wonder?

I haven't tried it yet but several people have said it is really nice. Also nice to know when local businesses are supporting each other.

Re: Pub?
They're obviously not cans but 5L mini casks which contain a live yeast and have a shelf life of 2-7 weeks (the clue, if you're unable to identify the difference between a can and a mini cask, might have been the card to centre top right of the photo bearing the prices for ' Mini Casks '). Perhaps ...

Re: Is Sydenham Safe?
I'm incredibly surprised by the negative stuff you've heard. If that were true then Sydenham would not have enjoyed such substantial rejuvenation over the last few years, with house prices pretty much doubling as a consequence. As I've posted before - I was a victim of violent crime several times i...

Re: High street improvements
Let Chris Best know. They may have got permission, however. It would be good if a local town team could have a say in what their high street looks like. It's great that you and others are posting about this and actually are starting to care about how Sydenham Road looks. When we started the convers...
