What empty shop units? Toys R Us? :?

Re: Former Snooker Hall nr Sydenham Station To Let

On for 50k plus VAT and rates. That is a lot considering how work will need to be put into it. However the greyhound is always busy so clearly there is demand. The Greyhound made over £30k in sales in just its first weekend so you definitely have a point. Sydenham is lucrative, the advert is correc...

Re: Bell Green Gasometers – A Compromise

The gas holders sit in Bellingham Ward. Bellingham Ward boundaries extend to "the other side of the bridge" as you describe it and also embrace the homes to the west of the railway and further more in a peculiar little bulge the boundary crosses onto the west side of Perry Hill at the Hou...

Re: Bell Green Gasometers – A Compromise

Why do Bellingham residents need a say, they’re the other side of the bridge. If it was a planning application for the site of the current Lidl on Southend Lane I wouldn’t expect Lower Sydenham/Bell Green residents to get a look-in on planning.

A nice wine bar like Auberge or Be@One would be nice. Let’s see what the Nando’s effect comes up with.

I don’t think anywhere has moaned about their Nando’s opening as much as Sydenham has. Funny nobody has a problem with Mamma Dough opening right next door.

Double standards.

Re: How Cobbs Corner is changing

Anyone else think the new Cobb’s Corner (Used to be the Blue Mountain coffee shop) signage is just God awful? It looks like a youth club, to think all those years of a filthy awning, big paint job and that signage is the best they can come up with. Such a shame. Get a Starbucks in, I’d rather that t...

Re: Why high streets die

It’s a bit of a long shot if we’re talking about Bell Green to bother mentioning any other train station other than Lower Sydenham, and any other bus routes other than the 194,181, 202, 356, 352 and 450, the 75 would be pushing it, and 197 doesn’t even come close. Maybe the low rating is because Bel...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

I suspect there will be thread around mid August along the lines of “ why can’t Lewiaham stop Nando’s customers parking on the pavement/ roundabout / up my road/ zig zags etc . Quite neutral about Nando’s - personally wouldn’t go in but appreciate lots of us very happy with it , but seriously I do ...

Re: Begging outside Sainsbury's local

I think it’s incomparable, advertisers provide a good or service in exchange for money, dossers often just make you feel vulnerable, where you can never be sure which way saying no could go. For the record Tesco on Kirkdale has the same problem and for that reason I won’t use the cash point there. ...

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site

I am very disappointed too but have been hoping there was no truth in the rumours. Has it been confirmed that it’s Poundstretcher? Thanks gosh I just read this and it's very disappointed indeed. feels like Sydenham is not in for a change. We don't need more crappy shop where virtually nothing usefu...

Re: Begging outside Sainsbury's local

There's one guy there who's a bit full-on with his approach to asking for money - he tends to just call out "Sir! Sir!" as I'm wandering out of Sainsbury's. Other than that, I say live and let live. They're only asking for money in the same way advertisers are asking for my money. In fact...

Re: New St Christopher's Charity Shop

I wouldn’t mind an Iceland in the old Co-op as long as it looked like their new format stores, like the one in Clapham Common. It beats an Aldi or what it’s probably going to be, a Poundstretcher

It’s a shame we can’t aim as high as an M&S Food Hall.

So Yoga Studio fell through for this site then? see my post But at one point there were two separate applications for yoga studios, one for the site of this new St Christopher’s shop and another for Zanara Court. There’s a whole other thread all about this, but I can’t remeber where it was. The que...

Re: Sainsbury's news

Starbucks would clear that up as well as selling coffee would they? In that case the sooner they arrive to save us all the better. Nice try! My point is that if certain aspects of SE26 didn’t epitomise a disaster zone there might be more aspirational retailers opening (i.e. inside Sainsbury’s Syden...

Re: Sainsbury's news

It goes back to the whole local demographics thing, we just don’t seem to be on the coffee chain’s radar (yet!). Thank goodness! Great coffee can be had at a number of places in the high street and suroundings like Sugahill, On The Hoof etc. I dislike coffee chains (I've worked with Starbucks). Ind...

And the cafe has a new summer menu. I do like the sweet potato fries!!! Odd that to coincide with these new elements to fill space that they haven’t/aren’t planning on adding to/replacing the existing Cafe with a Starbucks like they already have inside lots of other supersized Sainsbury’s stores, e...
