Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Thanks for the good spotting prince I’ve uploaded the original and revised plans here. The internally illuminated sign is now going to be hand painted. https://m.imgur.com/a/5L0nG1d Frankly, they’ve taken something smart and warm and made it terribly drab and grey. Will they insist on Farrow and Ba...

Re: sticky:RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
Thanks for the update Prince. This was raised by the executive at the Syd Soc AGM in passing. There’s a desire to ensure the signage is in keeping with the conservation area, so I believe there is a dialogue there. Although the executive also stressed they don’t want to prevent Nando’s or Mamma Dou...

Re: Planning - CAB unit change of use to restaurant
It is absolutely fantastic news that Mama Dough wants to set up in sydenham and take up this unit. For information, the confirmation is in the Service Management Plan, which specifically mentions Nandos and Mama dough. If you want them to be here, please support the application in writing! I like t...

Re: The Monstrosity
Good news for Fairlawn Park: on 27 March 2018, the Head of Planning, Emma Talbot, issued a ' Refusal of Permission to Develop' notice on the site of St Philip Neri school . The reason for refusal is that: 'The proposed external materials would, by reason of their appearance, quality and fixing meth...

This is hilarious. Something on this forum encited laughterTredownMan wrote:Also: if the councillor would like to stop referring to how the gasholders "survived Luftwaffe bombers" that would be welcome. It's the sort of irrelevant absurdity that gives these conservation campaigns a bad name.

It makes you wonder whether Lewisham were the ones that were slow to progress in the planning stage. I’m hoping there is a lot of work going on behind the hoardings during the day that I’m not around to see and anything yet to come will be more about the cosmetic fit-out.

I highly doubt that the small amount of food in Pound Stretcher’s offering would stop Sainsbury’s allowing them to open there, an Aldi, yes.Andyb wrote:Sure I heard somewere that Sainsbury’s own the land and no food retailer allowed to open but maybe mistakenparker wrote:They might be taking the Toys R Us site?

Re: Been to The Greyhound yet?
once the conservatory is completed, the interior space will be more than ample. you do realise the 'conservatory' (really just an extension to the main room) is there already, and just needs windows putting in? So there won't actually be more interior space. They have actually cordoned off the ‘ext...

Co-op can’t even be bothered to put a permanent sign on their funeral parlour in the high street. Waste your energy on getting M&S in instead and badger this guy:

Re: Toys R Us
Aldi can stop pining over Sydenham now and open in this unit, or is this space not good enough for them neither? Like the suggestion of Aldi having the old Budgens/Co-op, the floors are probably the wrong shade of beige or something.

The more it’s geared towards being a restaurant the better, with the added benefit that it’s a pub.leenewham wrote:Just for clarity, I didn't say there were a 'dearth of pubs serving decent beer' in Sydenham. My point was that some focus on food, some don't.
I look forward to it opening.
