Re: Hillcrest Estate development
@Tredownman - what you say is true and that's why it is important to understand why the scheme has been withdrawn so that Lewisham and Lewisham Homes can learn for the future and not do the same thing again. Obviously there was something not correct - either procedurally or functional. Shame so much...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development
Sounds as though a lot of positives have come from this activity. Great to see how it has helped a number of groups come together and if the Hillcrest community centre gets a new lease of life all the better.
And if it spurs Willow Way to get resolved good.

Re: Hillcrest Estate development
With the pressure to get new homes built as a political and social imperative it must have taken something really significant to cause this withdrawal. It will be interesting to understand the 'inconclusive' ecological findings that triggered the turnaround. My understanding (hearsay) is that the re...

Re: LEWISHAM COUNCIL PLANNING ENFORCEMENT DESPAIR
What about some initial advice from a solicitor who could advise on options either against council or the freeholder? It might cost you a little initially but better than acting on hearsay.

Re: St Philip Neri Meeting - Thursday 19 July 7pm
Lets hope that whatever happens with regards to the building being built that the response of the planning department is one that does not encourage others to flout planning regulations. I would hope that sufficient penaltes can be imposed or am I being hopelessly naive. It's fundamentally wrong tha...

Re: St Philip Neri Meeting - Thursday 19 July 7pm
Interesting that new head of planning Viv Evans described his position as interim. That suggests he is on temporary assignment and this is backed up when one looks at his cv and past extensive experience available online (easy search) - I recall he has himself been a CEO of a local authority, not ju...

Dylon works - FT reports L&Q buying bulk for social housing
So Dylon Works development might not now have as many private homes as originally expected if report in today's FT is accurate. Seems developers are not getting the individual private sales they expected at the price they want so bulk buying landlords moving in taking them at a discount to original ...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development
I unfortunately couldn't make yesterday evening's councillor chaired consultation at the Civic Centre (and it wasn't because of the football). I heard Lewisham Homes, the designers and those wanting to comment on this development were able to have their say and discuss and fine tune the specific pla...

Re: Hillcrest Estate development
My understanding is that the Green Chain Walk does go through the Hillcrest estate and woods - there's a sign on Sydenham Hill (near Bluebell Close) as well as on Wells Park Road (near the old Upper Sydenham station). Quick link (of someone who walks rather than official Green Chain website) also ba...

Re: Loud motorbike revving can be heard from Westwood Hill
This behaviour (and the detail in the forum thread) was specifically brought up at the Ward Panel meeting yesterday evening with our local Safer Neighbourhood Team (police).
But good advice to keep on reporting the behaviour to keep pressure on.

Re: Sydenham Assembly Wednesday 13th June 2018
Just as with home insurance - its one thing to pay for insurance - it's another thing to be paid for any claim. For example home contents insurance often comes with the requirement that correct locks and alarms are fitted and used. So easy to say 'I have insurance' but a very different matter to bei...

Re: Sydenham Assembly Wednesday 13th June 2018
Remember this isn't a council school - it is run by a Church - Roman Catholic. Archdiocese of Southwark is the organisation responsible from their website. So the council are only the planners and approvers with some responsibility for safety and compliance. In my mind the Archdiocese should be subj...

Re: Ignition Brewey needs our help!
Sounds as though there needs to be a bit of communication about this - it seems strange that those users of the space haven't been spoken to about any proposals or commitments made to Ignition Brewery. And what a breath of fresh air to hear from those businesses potentially affected by any introduct...

Re: Robin Orton You raise a good point there about local feeling. Very topical (national) debate at the moment about what respecting the 'will of the people' actually means in a representative parliamentary democracy. If local feeling was always followed by our government (local or national) then th...
