Social this Saturday, All Inn One

From 5.00 pm, especially but not exclusively for anyone coming back from the March, get off at Forest Hill. Watch out for the People's Vote and EU signs.

Re: Bell Green Proposals

I went along, and while the vision for a mix of housing and retail, at decent densities - for which read high enough to help solve housing shortage, but not overbearing - was good, it felt to me, in the words of Tredownman, something of a displacement activity. I think the project was too architect ...

Re: Allotments Open Day - Honey for sale

No - it's just the time of the year for flower and vegetable shows.

There's also a peak in allotment Open Days in May, which tend to be bigger, because that's the time for selling spare plants just grown from seed

Re: Cox's Walk footbridge

Why should anyone think Southwark Council is not mitigating the loss of two trees most effectively by planting a whole lot more? Is it possible to compare the professional expertise of the Council officers concerned and the petitioners. Have we, or have we not, had enough of experts? If we wanted to...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum

On a positive note, I hear the dot life forums are pretty much CB free these days. Hopefully if nothing else, it will allow people to express themselves a little more openly, and have more discussion and conversation about things. It's not all bad eh. "Always look on the bright side of life, d...

Re: Licensing Lewisham's landlords - have your say

Seems to me you're either a free market fundamentalist, who thinks there's no role for the state, here in regulating the private rental sector, or else that there is, in which case you need to come up with how you think it should be done best. So, mosy, John H, ghlpc, let's be hearing your positive ...

And the take home question is why you should trust Facebook, Twitter or Google further with your data than him.

Licensing Lewisham's landlords - have your say

From my friends at Generation Rent Lewisham Council has new plans to tackle negligent landlords and protect tenants from mistreatment. The council wants to hear from local residents - especially tenants - about these plans, which would mean all landlords in the borough would need a licence to provid...

Re: The Drowning Place - Beckenham Place Park

I grew up close to a river, and I recall summer evenings when the farmer in the village would call round to say he was going for a swim with his family, and would we like to come too. Kids from the nearby city on a hot summer's day will still crowd onto some low bridges, and have similar innocent fu...

It'll be the last census, and it's always worth checking data, but the relative deprivation of Downham, and the pockets round here, are pretty certain.

What was the OU course you did?

Re: Development of Beckenham Place Park

Not making a comment on BPP / Funding etc. But just thought I’d mention that it appears as if the map has some sort of glitch so hopefully the info you are looking at/talking about is correct for what you want to say rather than deprivations scales being inaccurate! The bit I’m looking at in partic...

Development of Beckenham Place Park

This is prompted by the current thread on the new open water swimming lake in Beckenham Place Park , but I thought I'd make it a separate thread. In case it needs saying, I've little sympathy for the grumpy old reactionaries who can see nothing good in anything new, and I think Lewisham Council are ...

Just returned from the park. It was so busy we had to queue for the car park for ten minutes. There were no special events on. Just people using the park. Are there car park charges? Nothing on the web site about it https://lewisham.gov.uk/inmyarea/openspaces/parks/beckenham-place-park/features-of-...

Surely the fact it has been sent to a "complete stranger" albeit with the actual number redacted, shows it is not seen even by him as confidential? I don't get the game being played here, it makes no sense. Simply send it to the person it relates to, or an intermediate party who can be tr...

Re: Sockpuppets on t'other forum

I realise this is a serious thread, so apologies if that last posting was too facetious. Another, more serious side thought is how we feel about privacy in this new world of social media and Big Data. Edited, 23rd July OK - although no one's complained to me, I feel uncomfortable about what I posted...
