You can play up at the Crystal Palace sports centre but its not an intimate venue and your have people watching you! I keep trying to find a place to play, havent played in years though, but really enjoyed it. Not sure i want to join a club so much as they can be abit clicky.

I disagree. I have brought a couple of rugs at Alhambra, and yes they were a little more expensive than ones i would have brought at Ikea for instance, but they are far more superior in quality, and will last longer...and also more importantly unique! The cards are locally made and are equivalent in...

I have been going to Thats Amore for a few years now. It does good Italian food, and does get busy on the weekends. They also do a really good takeaway menu for £5, and the portions are big. Its great being able to get good quality 'fast food' rather than the usual burgers etc. The owner, on certain...

Although i did not see this happen, i did see part of the shooting in Kirkdale last Friday, and i was surprised that no media news covered it. But then again, these things probably happen alot more than we imagine (did anyone else know that their was a shooting on friday in Forest Hill for instance,...

Does anyone use the Crystal Palace pools? The building has been partially refurbished and the pools themselves are great. However the staff are just something else. They appear not to be interested in the paying public, are very slow to serve you, and its just abysmal service. I go at lunchtime, so ...

Gosh that is truly horrendous. What with the shooting on Friday, what is going on in this road? Have some undesirables moved into the area or is it just a bad period? Where exactly did they take the car from in Kirkdale?

Where and what happened to the cinema, which is mentioned as being over the road? I do not remember seeing a building opposite which could fit the description. Is'nt there the old boarded up pub opposite?

I agree with Dickp. I am getting abid tired that the political classes nowadays seem to think that the only way to sort things out is to spend taxpayers money. We have had over 11 years of Labour and their political ways and all the promises of doing good for society have come to nothing...so what d...

Cameron a showman? Now lets see...who made being a PM about being a showman...oh yes, Labours Tony Blair...and now we are stuck with the woeful clown, Brown. Sorry to say, i used to respect Labour, but honestly, seeing the damage they have done to this country, i just want them out. Not because i wa...

Found this old link, as i heard that Crystal Palace once had a ski slope but have never know where it was positioned? Does anyone know? I have walked the park many times and the only area i could think it existed was on the eastern side, around the ponds, where there is a slope but also now quite wo...

Speaking of more 'upmarket' takeaways, the local restaurant on Kirkdale, Thats Amore, do a selection of pasta takeaways for £5, and the portions and the quality of the food are very good. Nice to have something quick and easy instead of a ready meal or the usual stuff

I live just off Kirkdale, (Dartmouth Road junction area), and always tend to go to Penge East, the other side of the tunnel. Not sure if it makes any difference on the zones, but the thought of the dark wooded hilly lane to SH doesnt appeal to me!

Popped in the the other day, and ended up buying a really nice individual rug, and not bad priced either. Look like they have some nice gifts and cards. Have to admit, very recommended, and glad to have a small decent shop around here.

Yes i agree...this is brilliant news for Wells Park and the surrounding area. Its always abit run down and forgotten this stretch, so it will bring real impetus to the area. Wonder where it will be built?
