Re: GOOD NEWS

Christmas Shopping stage one: I went to Wellbeing and bought a basket of posh goodies for my veggie friend. Organic biscuits and Jam and chocolate and the like. I've put them in a nice bag to present to her. I'm quite pleased with myself so far. The only problem so far is that even though I got to t...

Re: GOOD NEWS

I'm writing a 'to do' list in the run up to Christmas and I'm going to set myself a challenge of buying as much of what I need from the high street. So, wrapping paper will come from one of the pound shops - and cards if they have them / Fish from Billings / Veg from F&F / Christmas present for ...

I won't miss his foul mouth... he used to stand outside a lot with a right scruffy looking lad who I think worked for Southern Railway. The language was terrible.

The local curtain shop has made and fitted all our curtains and blinds for years. Very professional and they take great pride in their work.

Re: How do you Sydenhammers enjoy yourself

I grew up in a place where everyone knew everyone and were in and out of neighbours houses all the time... it was horrible, claustrophobic, and I couldn't wait to get away; everyone knowing everyone's business. Nooooo!! Living in London you can choose to integrate or not. I talk to people, to the sh...

Re: Lewisham declares borough wide drink control zone

To answer my own question above, yes - that is what you do. I rang the non-emergency number 0300 123 1212 and reported the group of drinkers who were outside the station tonight, they were well tinnied up. There was also a man and woman drunk at the bus stop. The lady was very helpfull and took all ...

Re: Lewisham declares borough wide drink control zone

This is good news.... So what are we to do? Does it mean that when we see tatoo'd man sitting outside the shop with his friends drinking we can call the police and they'll do something about it? Not 999 obviously, but the SNT ?

Yes I hear it. Sounds like a bird until you realise it goes on and on in a repeat pattern. Must be an alarm gone wrong.

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?

Thanks for reminding me Tim. I had forgotten about Penge, people say its good. We'll need to take our insulated bag down one day and then run home with them. Or eat them on the way home - always the best way but works better at the seaside.

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?

I would dearly love a good fish and chip takeaway. The last ones we bought from the place on Kirkdale were horrid horrid horrid. I don't think this will be part of his plan though - he works long enough hours as it is.

Well said Pansmum, good for you.

'if you're scared of the dark, don't watch scary movies on your own'... i. e. if you want to live a life as free as possible from stress and fear that someone is out to get you at every turn, then don't read the Daily Mail.

No, I haven't read it. And my advice to you is to eschew that hate and fear mongering disgusting lying piece of an apology for a paper and get on with living your life.

Re: Have you bought your fish this week?

Its because we've been on holiday so Mr Savvy has been devoid of his favourite thing; i e traipsing up and down the bloody high street, picking and sniffing and oooh-ing and ahhh-ing and bringing back lots of goodies for tea. Not that I'm complaining..... he's made some great dishes with fish from A...

Re: Sunday Roasts return to the Golden Lion

The most wonderfull Sunday roasts are served in the Exhibition Rooms in Crystal Palace. £10.00 and fabulous; honey roasted FRESH vegetables, gravy made with the juice of the meat (not out of a packet) and made on the premises Yorkshire puds. Proper medium-rare roast beef and... oh, I'm making myself...

Well I hope they're an improvement on what they used to be like. Frozen Potatoes, Frozen Yorkshire Puds, Frozen Peas, dried up chicken and gravy from a packet. Yuk.

Handy Jan is a local guy who has lived in the area with his family for many years, his wife taught my husband (a long time ago). He has done lots of work for us lately, decorating, fixing shed roof, changing taps, hanging heavy mirrors, shaving sticky door, replacing locks and fixing door bell. He's...

Re: Advice on local decorators

Handy Jan from the church magazine has just done some work for us. He fixed a falling down ceiling. He filled and plastered cracks and painted the whole of our one bed flat in a week. He put curtains up, went shopping for a lost shower rail and cleaned up after himself. Prior to this he fixed our sh...
