Montecassino's is currently morphing into Trattoria Rafaele - the building has been painted a lovely pale yellow and a bright red awning has just been installed. Looks like Sydenham is getting its latest restaurant!

Perhaps they're trying to shake off this image? It's a shame they're stuck with it - especially given the terrific ads they make.

Just looked at Steve Grindlay's thread on Listed Buildings in Lewisham and I'm delighted to add that the Fire Station is listed Grade II.

I lived at number 38 for some years. If you look at the top of the drainpipe between 38 and 36 you can just make out the date '1909'.

Interesting to hear that Bromley (am I right in thinking it is the 'clean and green borough'?) is so cavalier when it comes to its trees. Its parks and roundabouts always look good, but perhaps its street trees don't get the same high profile treatment...

Last night I spoke to people who live in Lawrie Park Gardens (Sydenham) and Colfe Road (Forest Hill - Perry Vale ward) and neither had yet received their Pools consultation leaflet from Lewisham. Given that the consultation ends on August 8 this strikes me as being truly shocking.
