Five minutes after posting - I have just heard the La Petite Bouchee van was vandalised last night in Wells Park - windows smashed and mirrors wrenched off.
Not good - very disappointed.

Re: Parking problems
The Council has a duty/pledge to prioritise the parking needs of residents over that of businesses, visitors and lastly commuters and at the moment that certainly isn't the case. @harrym - interesting - have you a link or reference to this pledge? I never realised Lewisham Council had been this spe...

Re: Speed Camera Westwood Hill - Which speed???
I do sympathise with you Lois. And you have demonstrated you have a proper professional eye on this - you speak from experience. Unfortunately there's currently little room for common sense and flexibility in local and central government - rules is rules and no room for exceptions.... Also truly loc...

What about a private nuisance claim against your neighbour? Not a criminal action but a civil one you take on yourself. So don't look for the State to help you.....

Re: Kirkdale High Street Update!
Where exactly is the former 'le shakes'? is it Cobbs Corner end or up towards Dartmouth Road? Interested in a local bike shop and tune-up centre in the area - it will attract my custom. (and as I type I'm thinking what a lazy thing to ask - I could just cycle the length of Kirkdale and see where it ...

Re: Co-operative Food store to rebrand as a Budgens store
Budgens is a franchise operation - managed by Musgraves of Eire - based in Cork. They also 'manage' Londis in UK. Or they did when I did some work for Musgrave a few years ago. So quality of the store is based on quality of the franchise holder. It was the case that Budgens stores were actively enco...

Re: Hideous racket in Lawrie park area
Nigel - is another suggestion, especially if it is a neighbour, that you ask to be included and invited. Then you can join in the celebrations of your neighbours - we are one community. Turn the event into a positive. Before too much laughter I am saying this totally 'tongue in cheek' and perhaps no...

Re: Cars vandalised in Peak Hill
I'm planning to go to the TNG evening - and will make the point that they would benefit from widening their 'comms' so locals know what they are up to.
Maybe they will post a summary themselves - or if not I'll do a potted one myself (no promises).

Re: Cars vandalised in Peak Hill
There's an open evening at TNG on Thursday between 19:00 and 21:00 - all welcome. Open for anyone to come in and see what they are doing and ask questions. Specifically focused on helping anyone with complaints or concerns about activities in and around the TNG. Its in response to such complaints. A...
Re: Doorz
The Doorz man is called Jim if he's the same person I knew as running the place - big chap - often known as 'big Jim' - used to have a St Bernard or dog of similar size / style - i.e Big.
Surprised if he's renovating the place - I thought he'd sold the business

Re: IS SYDENHAM POST OFFICE CLOSING?
There might always be a queue but in my experience it moves quickly and the wait is not unduly unpleasant - a nice time to rest and be calm for a while - before stepping back out into the metropolitan hubbub. And a good opportunity to catch-up on what others are doing / thinking by listening in to t...

Re: IS SYDENHAM POST OFFICE CLOSING?
Could it be Sydenham in Oxfordshire - near Leamington Spa - the mirror article gives no clue. "We're not the only Sydenham in the village" (apologies) https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Sydenham+Post+Office/@52.2828969,-1.51703,3a,75y,102.1h,90t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s4owDd5PizDHKjc1-svz2ng!...

If you mean the Japanese restaurant on Kirkdale - Hibagon (sic) - then I've been there. More than a sushi restaurant - full range of Japanese cuisine - curries, broths etc.. We had a great meal there - friendly and comfortable and tasty.

Also for sale for £1.2 million and not too far away - a house on Wells Park Road - 11 bedrooms (really???) so would suit a small family with live-in help:
