Re: Noise in Lower Syd last night

but you are in Newbury. Says it all. you should be here on race days. Can't move for discarded champers bots and lost stillettos heels. anyway I was in Sydenham, but I got out when diversity was coming into fashion. I'm perverse, not diverse. I had had enough when at 2.am I could feel not hea...

Re: Noise in Lower Syd last night

Its just weekend revels, people unwinding in the summer after a weeks hard work. Leave them be, it's a diverse multicultural city and different cultures and the entertainment they bring should be embraced. I'd have gone along and joined in, especially if the drink was cheap. Can't beat a drink and a...

Re: Fox in house

Be careful around "fearless foxes", they may have mange which is infectious to people and dogs. Curiously, one of the symptoms of fox mange is that the fox loses its natural fear of humans. I had a mangy fox once take up residence in the outside cat box my semi feral cat lived in. I see thi...

Re: Disease carrying slugs hit Sydenham

Sprinkle it with salt, or pour some down the hole. Dead in seconds.

That said I've never seen a slug come out of a hole.
Where I live I have some that look like pork sausages they are that big.
Also note that some slugs actually prey on other slugs.

Re: Contaminated fuel

It may not be the garage to blame. Modern "eco friendly" fuel contains a lot of Ethanol which is hydroscopic, meaning it attracts water; this water will settle in the bottom of the fuel tank. Owners of older vintage vehicles such as myself have found endless problems caused by this such as...

Re: Montie Garrard, Kirkdale

I knew this chap when I lived nearby in the 1950s/early sixties. His shop was like a film set of musty dusty stuff that never seemed to change. How he paid his way I have no idea. You are correct about him being the organist at CP and I recall the organ pipes at the back of the shop although I can't...

Sydenham and District motor club

This was a very active club between the wars which , organised and partook in all sorts of events for two and four wheels.

Has anyone any info on it?

I would particularly like to find one JC Thyne who rode, and was quite successful with, a Grindlay Peerless sidecar in a lot of events.
