Re: Bell Green Gas Holders - Proposal to Demolish in April 2

As they are only just inside Bellingham Ward and only just outside of Perry Vale and Sydenham wards, it's a bit rich to suggest that only Bellingham residents get a say. I'm closer to them than most people in the Bellingham Ward and see them every day.

Re: The Greyhound layout

One part is near the bar. One part is nearer where they serve food. Like many pubs they serve beer and food, so they cater for both. I'm not really sure why this is an issue. But it's built, seems busy, looks great and is an asset at one of the main entry points to the heart of Sydenham. What I'm re...

Re: The Little Mermaid and Other 'Tails' - booking now open!

I posted this in the other forum, so in case anyone hasn't seen it: We saw this on Saturday (with a 6 year old) and really enjoyed it. You get a good view no matter where you sit. It's a really imaginative take on the storytelling of Hans Christian Anderson that had both adults and children laughing...

Re: Shall we all write to Co-Op and ask them to come back?

Many of their own brand goods were Fairtrade Mosy, and they sold more Fairtrade goods as a percentage than any other supermarket. Tesco Express would be more expensive than The Co-op, they have a different pricing structure to the main stores. Same with Sainsbury's local. The Co-operative are far mo...

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Some statues/sculptures were treated like a 3d painting (especially if religious), some were left in the base material as a study in form.

I think the Greyhounds look better simple and unpainted.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Exactly Pally. I'm not sure why you would want to paint the Greyhounds to make them look 'lifelike'. They are Greyhound statues, replicas of what was there before. They are cast, similar to the statues in Crystal Palace Park and match the render at the bottom of the Greyhound building. I think they ...

Re: New yoga studio?

A betting shop is in the 'Sui Generis' category. A yoga studio is D2. I thought it was permitted change of use which doesn't need approval: https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/9/change_of_use/2 Biscuitman, am I missing something there, or does Lewisham treat this differently...

Re: A Sydenham traders association

In many areas, estate agents are heavily involved in traders associations and the high street. But these tend to be local rather than large chains. The staff in the large chains are less likely to be local than the independent ones. Property World, being local estate agents, certainly do heavily con...

Totally agree Steve.

I think it looks great, can't wait for it to open.
The Greyhounds look great, the pub looks great, the sign looks great, the menu looks great and obviously will change over time. It looks like they have invested time and effort in creating something Sydenham should be proud of.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

Just for clarity, I didn't say there were a 'dearth of pubs serving decent beer' in Sydenham. My point was that some focus on food, some don't.

I look forward to it opening.

Re: #RebuildTheGreyhound - pub to be rebuilt by April 2015?

I see no reason why Sparticus.

But it looks like it will be food led, which I'm looking forward to, so now there are two choices instead of one. There are lots of choices for pubs that focus on beer rather than food. It's good to have more of a balance.

Re: sticky: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM

I met with the person who lived in the top flat who has access to the roof regarding putting a flag on there (the Green Dragon) years ago, but I understand that he sadly passed away. I believe the flag belongs to the top flat, so if anyone wants to put a flag on there, I suggest they get in contact ...
