Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

I too was surprised that the Mayor - or even the planning department themselves - didn't impose time limits for the drawing up a timetable to build by Purelake. After all, the issues which Purelake refer to in their letter (that the 2010 plan doesn't allow for a basement and a conservatory) can be s...

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

Admin's recording of last night's Mayor and Cabinet meeting on the Greyhound is well worth a few minutes viewing. http://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=12036 Is this the breakthrough we've been waiting for? Chris Best's declaration in the meeting that we want to see builders back on s...

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

Mosy - you are correct. No reason whatsoever why anyone shouldn't come up with their own idea of what they'd like to do with the site. But these ideas have to be tested against reality. If I were to contact all the residents in Venner Road and tell them that I intended to knock down all their homes ...

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

Agree wholeheartedly with the last two postings. Can I flag up a very important date in our campaign. It's the Mayor and Cabinet meeting at 6pm Wednesday 1st October at the Town Hall. http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=139&MId=3424 It's the first item on the agenda (...

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

I can assure you that the residents of the flats to the rear and side of the pub are furious about the fact that the pub has not been rebuilt and that new businesses have not been installed around the pub. They have complained loudly and clearly to their landlord (Hexagon) and a number of them have ...

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

Some great ideas here.

Admin - you mention the meeting "this evening."

It's actually tomorrow night - 8pm Wednesday September 24 in the back room of the Golden Lion.

Essential that we get a good turn out if we are going to put some of these ideas into action!

Re: Rebuild the Greyhound Pub Campaign #rebuildthegreyhound

This is a question to be put to the Lewisham Mayor. Why can't he ask Purelake to remove the "in partnership with Lewisham " from the Purelake website and threaten not to work with Purelake in future unless they start to do the right thing and rebuild the Greyhound? The Lewisham Council log...

TfL has agreed to "hold back" a sizeable group of free tickets at Sydenham and FH stations for 2pm.

Great line Ali. I agree with you that moderating a forum isn't easy. My interest in posting on this site is for one reason only. I want to help change and improve SE26 and I want to communicate with people who share this view or want to discuss planning, transport, road improvements issues etc. I on...

Yes you will be able to renew Travelcards at the station. Here is clarification from TfL: "Passengers will be able to renew Oyster Travelcards at selected National Rail stations. At Sydenham (and the other stations recently taken over by London Overground - New Cross Gate to West Croydon), pass...

Yes - but just for a bit of balance, it's worth mentioning that most of our local primaries do very well in the tests.

These significant differences point to a more complex message than the one posted above - that of massive differences in intake between Haseltine and other local primaries.

Not a bad guess Ulysses but almost entirely wrong! I know you won't mind me "straightening things out" before the inhabitants of Penge West and Anerley start breaking open the champagne to celebrate services you have promised them which they simply aren't going to get! There are currently ...

Unfortunately Robin, posting under your real name doesn't prevent you getting abused or even being abusive. The reason STF so often descends into rancour and abuse is that it is insufficiently regulated. Abuse can only be dealt with by a clear and straightforward attitude from admin. And that really...

Bob - perhaps we'd find the rail authorities a little more amenable if we stopped referring to station staff in such derogatory terms. These are people not "goons".

I'm also confident that the gates at Sydenham are just as quick and reliable as those used elsewhere. The basic standard is that they can handle 40 people in a minute using Oystercards (as opposed to 25 people per minute using cardboard tickets). So we can expect the two gates to handle slightly mor...

Those people who have a Season Ticket Oystercard which does not cover certain zones on the tube will, of course, have to "top it up" or use a PAYG Oystercard. For example, many people travelling from Sydenham have a rail only season ticket. If you want to travel on the tube you have, hardl...
