Re: New “shop” on Sydenham Road
None of us can really know that a poster is an.other We all speak/post English, within the limitations of the written word. However, what's for me to get in to a tussle with you about? i'm posting as HD here simply because I did so in EDF (where I did so for heaven knows what reason and, as you know...

Re: New “shop” on Sydenham Road
Here here / hear hear Lee. Who the he** would want some fervent 'mountain of fire' in its midst, regardless of who else opposes it (or doesn't)? It makes me titter btw BBW that someone accused of (or myself being accused of) posting in another frock should be castigating someone like Eagle for a sim...

Re: Newlands Park Murder?
Very good point. My son was lucky to have two male teachers at Junior school, one was something of a bully but the other was a real fun bloke-y type; also their male head was very very effective even under the mean-spirited financial strictures of the late 80s.

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
I've never had the feeling Boris (or Ken before him) has much sympathy for car owners / drivers though Robin. :( Doing some (cough) eventual tidying up I came across a Standard back page ( :x from Jan 20th) with the artist's impression and text. I've googled this portable version of it which seems t...

Yes, it would be good for that area to become more than a corridor and for some of those empty little shops to come back in to use .

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
Wasn't meaning you'd changed them :!: Spurs are now out of the running, I suppose the choices now come down to being turned into a theme park and hotel complex after years of excavation and dust and building and noise (so long as the consortium don't go bankrupt and walk away :( vs: staying as a daf...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
It's all about the merchandising and other profit possibilities that the consortium members' other businesses will gain from if CPFCLtd acquires the association with such a historic area. I heard a report recently about a little boy whose grandparents spent almost £100 on his Chelsea FC Xmas gifts w...

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers
It's not about telling business owners what to do, it's about showing what is possible. That's a much better way of putting it ! It's a shame imhoo that some retailers think they have to 'talk down' to their target clientele. Especially when, once inside, some have good products. I was always resen...

Re: WHAT IF no 13: BILLINGS Fishmongers & butchers
Regardless of what it looks like ..... Coming late to this thread although Lee's 'What if' thread appealed to me as it's always been a phrase I like and always think sounds optimistic whereas some people perceive it as pessimism :? Back to the quote ..... I'm afraid I wish there was some permission...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
Since I mentioned the likelihood of RPP fees and meters (based on the experience of friends who live some distance away from chelsea and Fulham grounds) a poster has threaded about yet another questionnaire they've received from Bromley Council. They've now been canvassed three times for support for...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
However, you mustn't automatically assume they the Sydenham Society will object to the Planning Application. The Syd Soc are a progressive group who judge each proposed development on its merits and may actually agree with a well-thought Planning Application The fact that a majority on this thread ...

Re: Crystal Palace stadium re-development?
The fact that Lewisham and Croydon will enjoy the stealth tax via residents' parking permits should have no influence on what Bromley decide to do about this scheme (except that it's always been obvious that it's the only possible reason for Bromley supporting it). Having had a re-peek through the t...

Re: Newlands Park Murder?
A man (thought to be squatting with others) was found dead in a house on the other side of Sydenham a few days before Daniel's murder Chef.
I believe two people were arrested but don't know the latest.

Re: Newlands Park Murder?
Well we could argue Eagle about whether society should really employ someone to do as you suggest.
I think that in most cases the answer would be 'no'; most killings aren't planned and if they were they might require an even more cruel person, to be capable of using the same method.

Re: Newlands Park Murder?
I would have thought it likely , even in todays softly softly policing , that a murder suspect would not be released on Bail. As we don't 'do' torture and as we have limits on the amounts of time away from work and family that a person against whom there is no hard and fast evidence can be held, we...

Re: Newlands Park Murder?
HD cultural what do you mean are you asking my nationality or trying to cast aspersions upon it? Hardly polite and how on earth can that matter in the face of violent crimes being committed. How is asking about a person's origins casting aspersions on them? It would require me having a scale compar...
