Re: Two more shops closed
I'd like to think so. There is another Ladbrooke's barely a stone's throw away however so maybe having two shops on the same street was too much even for Sydenham!

Two more shops closed
Ladbrooks on the corner of Newlands Park and Golden Grill on corner of Sydenham Rd/Kent House Road.
Hoping for something interesting to come in their place but not holding my breath...

London Overground night extension
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/transpor ... 78261.html
Unfortunately the image on this story is deceptive as it will only go as far as New Cross Gate. Any night buses from New Cross Gate to Syd?

Re: Save Beer Rebellion - we need your help!
I walked past BR yesterday and the new owners were giving away some free stuff (general household items) outside. I spoke to them briefly and both seem very friendly. They also have a poodle, hence the name.
Let's hope its a success!

Get Nando's there if the plans to have it in Kirkdale get killed off. I'd be up for it.

Re: RUMOURS: CINEMA AND NANDOS COMING TO SYDENHAM
I posted a comment in support of the planning application linked to above on the planning applications site. I'd urge others to do the same. Confusingly, you had to select one of only three options to describe yourself in commenting: 'Applicant', 'Developer' or 'Complainant'. Obviously I'm not an a...
YuVape
In place of Eton Green estate agents by the looks of it, opening soon. Can't say I've ever been into a vaping shop but suppose its marginally more interesting than an estate agent.

Re: sydenham needs an uplifting
Anyone know what's going on with the area between Sydenham Beds and Kent House Road? Wasn't there supposed to be something going on there? There's also that development closer to the train station which is taking shape (with retail space on the ground floor) and I have seen activity in what was Conn...

I only moved into the area in the last few months so I don't know anything about him. I only ask as the timing of your post seemed very relevantsyd wrote:Why do you ask? Do you want to keep him?

Development near station
Does anyone know what is going on with the flats development on the high st (the same side as PFC/Tesco but a little further up toward the station)? I think on the hoarding in front it says 'Arnem Court' or something but there is also picture of a retail unit on the front. At the moment its a 'Giraf...

Local builder/odd jobs
Hi all, I'm sure a similar topic may have been posted already so apologies in advance but can anyone recommend a local builder/handyman. We have a spot of damp on the ceiling underneath our bathroom and a small crack appearing which needs rather urgent attention. Less urgently we would also like to ...
Re: Budgens
I think its clear that if a food store takes its place, it is going to struggle. I haven't lived in the area long but Lidl always seems to be packed and Budgens deserted. However, with a unit that size I can't really see what else it would be other than a medium-sized food store - perhaps Tesco or S...

Many thanks for your help everyone.

Carpets
Afternoon all, My girlfriend and I have recently moved into the area and are looking at recarpeting part of our flat. Does anyone have any recommendations about which carpet place to use? I have noticed two on the High St: MW Floors near Lidl and a carpets and curtains place towards the station. Any...
