I personally wouldn't knock CP - they have the same problems as Sydenham in this competitive world (in my view, as I mentioned). It's always good to have "somewhere else" on one's doorstep and Sydenham has lots, e.g. CP, Penge, Forest Hill, Dulwich, Bromley etc - all within a stone's throw...

Just a thanks to mummycat about needing a ticket from the machine to secure the 30 mins free parking in the Forest Hill car park. I must have been lucky in the past as I've normally just abandoned my car there for up to 30 mins.
