Good luck Juwlz! No wonder you seemed so fit last weekend; a simple walkabout probably doesn't even cause you any perspiration. I should really start doing some light jogging soon, as my heart doesn't feel strong enough for the lower body exercises I've been performing. I was in Exhibition Road, So...

Do you feel like doing the walk again this week Falkor? Would you care to join us Rebelmc. It'd be good to have the more the merrier (potentially Leaf, Illuminance and Pat aswell as Steve Grindlay) I'd feel much more confident if Rebelmc was with us and it was dark..."as he's street tough!&quo...

hi Rebelmc Don't worry there will be more walks and I for one don't mind covering the same route, there will always be more to learn, as you have shown! Ah - the log cabin you mention must be what we spotted through the fence on the other side from Dome Hill park where the 'ravine' is. We wondered ...

I must admit, I'm a bit gutted; was thinking of turning up for this walk, but I figured the weather would've scuppered it! Nice pics Falkor, just for your information, the picture immediately above your caption "Old surviving houses along the South side of Sydenham Hill" is where I live (m...

Sarah, as someone who works in the public eye, I can tell you you have no need to apologise. What your dissenting poster doesn't realise is that anyone who chooses to court the public gaze, in whatever way, does so with their eyes open and in full knowledge of what to expect, anyone who doesn't is a...

If anyone is worried about their rare wheeltrims, try securing them to the wheel with plastic cable ties; the proper thief will have sidecutters with them, but it will stop the opportunist (just remember that you will also need some with you if you get a puncture). As for alloys, make sure you have ...

Footballer extraordinaire Ian Wright's sister owns a flat in our house, so we used to see him here quite often, so does that count?

Not forgetting of course John Logie Baird who lived more or less next door to the Dulwich Woodhouse, and Joseph Paxton who lived at the top of Westwood Hill.

Re: Cobbs

[quote="Falkor"]Doubt these are quite as old as 30s-40s, but are some photos I saw in the Lewisham Local Studies centre... I think the 2 main books have better photos... If those cars are newish, the top one would certainly date from the mid 30's, that looks to me like a Morris 8 c1935 par...

Re: Hello Guest

Have heared that route is to receive the Tramlink line scheduled for opening 2008. Will link Crystal Palace to Bromley and West Croydon. But who knows we may all have hover-boards by then! That's an entirely different route. I can't see that reopening the old route would be viable, given that much ...

The Wood.........one for the historians?

It's amazing what you can find on the WWW, like this place, which (before this afternoon) I never knew existed! So, I start my first post with a question........ I found this site whilst trying to find out more of the history of my parent's home, 16 Sydenham Hill, also known as "The Wood"....
